Protected areas are gazetted by state or national laws as areas where only low-impact activities such as research, educational programmes, and sustainable tourism are allowed. An example of a protected area in Malaysia is the tri-state Taman Negara in Peninsular Malaysia.

Mangroves, which have declined by up to half over the past 50 years, are an important bulkhead against climate change. They store atmospheric carbon dioxide just like other land-based tropical forests. WWF-Malaysia (Sabah) Lends A Hand To Victims Of The Earthquake In 25th Jun 2015, by WWF Malaysia
Over the weekend, a group of colleagues from WWF-Malaysia teamed up with friends to bring food and water to victims of the earthquake in Kota Belud and Ranau. We were given RM4,100 in kind and used the full amount to pay for necessities for the victims of the recent earthquake. A convoy of colleagues and friends loaded up food and water onto the back of their four wheel drives and rallied up to pass on the donated goods.

The Royal Belum State Park is one of the oldest rainforests in world, dating back over 130 million years. Within the state park you can do wonderful nature tours and you may just spot wildlife like elephants, deers, wild boars, birds, insects and many tropical trees and plants.
By going to a park and by encouraging more people to visit parks and forests, it boosts presence at these parks and therefore there is less chance of it being faced by threats.
