“Life is all about choices and what you make of it. Sometimes, we make choices that bring difficult consequences. I injured my ligament in a football match, and the injury has deemed me unfit and unable to fully perform my duties to the best of my abilities in the forest.
I felt as though 60% of my purpose in the team was gone, and that I was therefore letting the team down because they had to now also take up my responsibilities too.
This made me feel very demotivated for quite some time....

“Working with WWF-Malaysia has allowed me to experience quite a number of interesting and dangerous situations. I’ve come face to face with a juvenile elephant while having lunch alone at base camp, escaped falling branches, and outrun a family of elephants while I was en route to retrieve camera-traps.
In most of these situations, there is very little time to think; so we do what we can - act as fast as possible! My job tends to always keep me on my toes and is evidently quite exciting, d...

Eco-Schools Melaka Poetry 2nd Apr 2018, by WWF Malaysia
"Kita bergelap seketika cuma,
Demi kesejahteraan buat alam,
Mengawal suatu fenomena global,
Suhu memuncak menjadi redup,
Tenaga dan kuasa berehat dipenggentingan,
Berilah ruang pada alam kita
Yang menagih damai yang abadi."
A poem beautifully written by teacher Saifullah Abd Rahim for the Eco-Schools Melaka Mini Conference that took place at Ismah Beach Resort last Friday. Themed Turtle+Plastic, the conference aimed to build an understanding on the detrimental effects of plastic to marine life ...

“I love being in the forest; it brings about a sense of peace and calmness to me. In my line of work, I am fully aware of the many risks and obstacles involved, but I would still choose to do it all day, every day. It really feels good to be a part of these efforts to conserve our tigers.
One of the major motivating factors is my drive to see Malayan tigers and other wildlife in their natural habitat - in the wild.
However, no matter how thrilled and excited I get, self care is still of ut...

“I come from a biology and chemistry background, and before joining the team you could say that my knowledge on tigers was pretty scarce.
My work now involves dealing with land use issues, using remote sensing (which relies on sensor technologies to detect and classify objects on Earth) and GIS - Geographic Information System (a computer-based tool for analyzing ground data).
Integrating both these technologies, what I do aids decision makers to better plan and monitor issues pertaining to...
