Happy World Dolphin Day From Belawai, Sarawak. 14th Apr 2018, by WWF Malaysia
Belawai Beach, located in the central region of Sarawak, is a lovely spot to view sunset.
Sadly the beach has become an eyesore due to the amount of rubbish found here. All sorts of rubbish, including plastics are washed ashore.
The beach is part of the Rajang-Belawai-Paloh delta, home to Irrawaddy dolphins - a flagship species in Sarawak.
It is sad that people throw plastic bags into our waterways! Did you know that dolphins will mistake plastic bag for a jellyfish and end up eating it?

This fish species can be found in pristine rivers flowing through undisturbed lowland forest, which makes it an excellent indicator of the ecological health of l...

“My initial years in WWF-Malaysia were rather challenging for me. As a fresh young officer just out of university with very little knowledge on conservation, I experienced a series of rejections carrying out my duties in those days.
However, I used the negative experiences as motivation to improve myself. I developed trust and confidence, and learned patience.
I also learned how to master my emotions and not be discouraged with other people’s opinions or comments. But most of all, I cont...

Every time I witnessed destruction happen in front of my eyes, I felt helpless and frustrated all at once. Conserving tigers means that we are working to protect an apex predator.
This also means we can save much more than just tigers in the long run, as apex predators play a key role in sustaining the balance of an ecosystem.
I since...
