The death of Tam, our last male Sumatran rhino in Sabah reminds us that a species can go extinct in our lifetime. However, Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) is a medical procedure that could be used to breed the remaining three rhinos by collaborating with their Indonesian counterparts to exchange gametes.
WWF-Malaysia calls on the government to enhance diplomatic efforts towards Indonesia, in order to help save this species by allowing ART to take place.

The Malaysian government will send back up to 100 tonnes of plastic waste because it was too contaminated to recycle. "Malaysia will not be the dumping ground of the world,” Environment minister Yeo Bee Yin(杨美盈)said. "Malaysians have a right to clean air, clean water and a clean environment to live in, just like citizens of developed nations,” said the Kementerian Tenaga, Sains, Teknologi, Alam Sekitar dan Perubahan Iklim (MESTECC) minister.

Today, we bid farewell to Tam, our last surviving male Sumatran rhino. Our hearts are filled with sadness as we mourn not only the loss of wildlife but the loss of a species. With Tam gone, we now only have Iman left, our last female rhino.
If we are not careful, the Sumatran rhino will not be the only species that will go extinct under our watch. Our other prized wildlife like elephants, pangolins, bantengs and clouded leopards will also likely meet the same fate if we don't protect them now. ...
