DEEN GETS (A LITTLE BIT) BULLIED BY THE BOYS IN THE HOOD!
Deen, an Indian star tortoise at the ACRES Wildlife Rescue Centre (identified in the photo by his ‘new boy on the block’ clean carapace) recently finished his quarantine period and joined the other star tortoises outdoors. He was immediately investigated by some of the senior and more ‘seasoned’ tortoises!
As you can see from the photo, the senior tortoises paraded their seasoned and dirty shells (thanks to the monsoon season) a...

SATURDAY CRIME NIGHT – ABUSED PUPPY’S MIRACULOUS SECOND CHANCE AT LIFE
In the UK earlier this year, four boys under the age of 16 and under the influence of drugs, stole a puppy, fed him drugs, kicked and punched him, and wrung and broke his neck. They also set fire to his face and eyes after lighting a deodorant aerosol can, and left him near a rubbish tip to die. The poor puppy was only discovered days later by a passerby.
Miraculously, the puppy, named Chunky, survived the ordeal. Hap...

NATIVE WILDLIFE RESCUE ROUNDUP: 27 NOVEMBER 2015
1. (Left top) Momma is a water monitor lizard who was found stuck and injured in a shallow drain by the roadside. She had lost some blood, possibly from a collision with a vehicle, and was in shock when we rescued her. With some fluids and rest overnight, she had perked up by the morning, and we were relieved to find that she had not suffered any major/internal injuries and was all good to be released!
2. (Left bottom) Pottu is a pitta who wa...

YOUR HELP CAN MAKE THIS A REALITY AND CHANGE THE LIVES OF RESCUED ANIMALS!

TWO WEEKS TO THE STANDARD CHARTERED MARATHON – SUZZIE’S STORY
Sadly, our local wild animals can sometimes get caught in snares that have been set up illegally. You may be surprised to know that these snares can sometimes be found in Singapore’s nature reserves and parks. Some of the animal victims lose their lives, while others have to live with painful wounds sustained as they desperately free themselves from the snares.
Let’s take a look at Suzzie, a young female macaque who fractur...

ALONE WE CAN DO SO LITTLE; TOGETHER WE CAN DO SO MUCH – HELEN KELLER
This picture was taken in 2013 during the construction of the Main Sanctuary Area at the ACRES Wildlife Rescue Centre (AWRC). It was the monsoon season and every single day, the dedicated ACRES volunteers, together with our staff, had to shower in the rain whilst creating new homes for the animals!
Our amazing volunteers are sincere, they are dedicated, and they are the ones who go through rain and shine with us. Nothing...
