NATIVE WILDLIFE RESCUE ROUNDUP: 29 DECEMBER 2015
Here is our last rescue post for 2015:

Thankfully he was spotted by our rescue volunteer Chuen Ling Lee and her friend who freed Sunny from the netting and called our rescue hotline to remove the fine but tightly wound netting around his body.
Watch the video of how Sunny finally got hom...

THE PILOT PROJECT IN BUKIT TIMAH – MONKEY GUARDS
As 2015 comes to end, it is a good time to review this pilot project which has lasted for one year. The pilot project was initiated following a rise in the human-macaque tension near the Bukit Timah Nature Reserve. After several experimental studies and behavioural observations of the macaques, ACRES conducted a one year project – the Monkey Guards project, as an alternative towards a modern way towards co-existing with the macaques.
As a re...

ACRES conducted a six-month long undercover operation from June to 15 December 2015. The aim was to investigate the use of online adver...

Our ACIU was set up this year to put an end to this cruelty. From clamping down on the sale of tiger parts, to ensuring that our pets-to-be have basic welfare, these animals would not have been a second chance if not for their work.
So far, the ACIU has done online stints that found 156 illegal pet advertisement...

DEFORMED DOLPHIN ACCEPTED INTO NEW FAMILY!
A lone dolphin with a spinal deformity was accepted into a family of sperm whales in the Azores, in a rare display of cross-species interaction.
It is thought that perhaps the slow moving, deformed dolphin "…could not keep up with or was picked on by other members of its dolphin group," and so joined the slower moving whales.
Why did the whales accept the dolphin into their group? Read the article to find out!
