PRIMARY SCHOOL STUDENTS TOOK THE INITIATIVE TO HELP ACRES!
After their exams ended late last year, Claire, Cheryl, Alyssa, Zenein, Chiron and Anya came to the ACRES Wildlife Rescue Centre (AWRC) to find out how they could do something to help animals. 1. Mustafa is an adult (and feisty) rock pigeon who somehow got stuck inside a fire exit window at the Mustafa shopping centre. OUR SINCERE THANKS TO ALL WHO RESPONDED TO OUR REQUEST FOR OLD NEWSPAPERS!
A few weeks ago, we made an urgent call-out for old newspapers. Newspapers are important for our daily animal care and rescue operations as they mean we can provide rescued animals with suitable bedding and substrate at little cost, and they also have other related uses. AN ENRICHING TREAT FOR THE AWRC TORTOISES FROM SRI SATHYA SAI SOCIETY
At the end of January, Sri Sathya Sai Society Singapore brought our tortoises a tasty gift: Handmade Flower Ketupats, which were vibrantly-coloured marigolds and roses wrapped in fragrant banana leaves. These flowery treats definitely made the tortoises’ day!

MEET JOEY, CHINESE SOFTSHELL TURTLE
Here’s a close up photo of Joey, one of the resident Chinese softshell turtles at the AWRC, pictured relaxing in the midday sun and enjoying the sunshine. Joey is very curious and will investigate any new object within his environment. He is also quite territorial.
