1. Say ‘YES’ when your child asks to throw a fundraising birthday party to help animals!
Maia, who has just turned 6, hosted an "animal rescue" party for her birthday. Instead of wanting gifts for herself, she asked her guests to donate money to support ACRES and SPCA (Singapore) in animal rescue work.
2. Guide him/her in the fundraising process.
A total of $928 was raised from the fundraising birthday party. Claire and Bronte Forbes h...

CAN YOU GUESS THE SPECIES?
When you call our 24hr ACRES Wildlife Rescue Hotline to report a snake sighting, we will ask for a description of the snake (colours, patterns, posture, length and thickness). We also request for a photo of the snake to be sent to us via WhatsApp.
This helps us to identify the species before we can provide you with useful advice on what to do until we arrive, or if a rescue is even needed.
Here are some photos of some native species of snakes that we have rescued...

Time was of the essence in the bid to rescue Ranger, with limited tools, time and manpower. Our heartfelt thanks go to Gabriel Cai and Lee Ann (to tag), our long term rescue volunteers, who were not ...

AWRC TORTOISES AND THEIR PRICKLY LUNCHTIME TREAT! 26th Jul 2016, by Animal Concerns Research & Education Society (ACRES)
As often as we can, we try our best to provide the tortoises at the ACRES Wildlife Rescue Centre (AWRC) with foodstuff that they would eat in their natural native habitats. Sorel leaves and hibiscus leaves/flowers are examples. Cactus is another.
However, cactus is hard to find and can be expensive in Singapore. Luckily for us (and the tortoises), we recently stumbled upon a retired man in Pulau Ubin who grows these plants and grabbed the chance to buy some from him!
We gave the cactus to our...

HAVE YOU SEEN WILD ANIMALS IN OUR CANALS?
In many areas all over the world, rivers and their networks of tributaries and streams form wonderful habitats for animals. These are places where many different species of animals live, often in close proximity to human settlements.
In Singapore, our rivers and waterways have become canalised. However, they are still home to a variety of different species of animals. Herons, monitor lizards, fish, turtles and even otters can regularly be seen in our...
