HAPPY INTERNATIONAL TIGER DAY! Tigers, even as majestic as they are, still face a lot of suffering till today. We often see tiger parts being sold all over the world for various purposes, tigers used for photography and entertainment and their habitats suffering from human needs. Over the past months, we have been rehabilitating Jelebu and Senai, two of our pink-necked green pigeon fledglings whom we rescued after falling out of their nest or getting lost. We could not reunite them and had to take care of them. This video shows their journey. We rescue numerous animals just like Jelebu and Sinai and we need much more food and supplements to cater to their needs. If you are able to buy their food online and donate to us, contact Kalai at 82882426 (whatsapp) or kalai@acres...

21st Jul 2017, by Animal Concerns Research & Education Society (ACRES)

Last week, our wildlife rescue hotline received yet another call about a bird that had gotten stuck on a glue trap. We would never know what exactly happened, but the poor bird was found in a rubbish bin. It was left there, suffering and left to die. Luckily, a kind lady who works in the area noticed the bird and called us. Upon our advise, she gathered her friends to help remove the bird from the rubbish bin first. To our surprise, they went a step further and helped remove the bird from the tr...

TODAY (16th JULY) IS WORLD SNAKE DAY Contributed by our guest writer, an awesome compassionate long-term volunteer Wildlife Rescue Officer Lee Anne: “Snakes and reptiles have always intrigued me since I was a kid. Probably because most people fear and/or hate them, it just fueled my interest in them, and I would pay extra attention to a book or documentary that would feature these animals. Through these mediums, it became absurdly clear how absolutely misunderstood and wronged snakes are....

PEANUT AND WALNUT Peanut and Walnut are two red-footed tortoises rescued from the illegal wildlife trade in Singapore. Each day Peanut is becoming more and more protective towards Walnut, another red-footed tortoise whom he shares an enclosure with. Peanut will block any human who tries to get close to his pal, regardless of volunteer or staff. Peanut and Walnut are generous enough to share food from the same plate, even though offered in different plates. Wish to know more about Peanut an...

SEE WILD PIGS? DON’T APPROACH OR FEED! With increasing green corridors and developments, our wild animals will explore and use the park connectors to move around, crossing residential estates, or be sighted at the fringe of nature areas.
