Fallen But Not Forgotten. In Memory Of Miss Rocky ..
25th Oct 2019, by Animal Concerns Research & Education Society (ACRES)

[FALLEN BUT NOT FORGOTTEN] In Memory of Miss Rocky Balboa “You were so active. And girl, did you love your water tub! Age in a wild animal can be rather iffy, and we often take for granted that you will be with us till the very end when we have the honour of returning you home to your country of origin. Alas, you stopped eating normally; stopped being as active as you used to be. You stopped taking dips in your water tub. We treated your symptoms and even started tube feeding – just so yo...

23rd Oct 2019, by Animal Concerns Research & Education Society (ACRES)

"He can do bird calls," they said. He sure could. He could even identify the species just by their silhouettes! Subaraj Rajathurai spoke more bird languages than anyone. And more importantly, he spoke UP for these animals, plants and their habitats too. Subaraj, as you look over your loved ones, the fauna and flora from above, know that your animal protection legacy lives on in all of us- everyone- who was inspired by your passion. As many of us sleep through the night, our hearts go out to hi...

Some Of You May Have Heard About The Crab Claw Mac..
23rd Oct 2019, by Animal Concerns Research & Education Society (ACRES)

Some of you may have heard about the crab claw machine at a seafood restaurant in Punggol. We received feedback on this practice a few days ago and filed a cruelty case with Animal & Veterinary Service (AVS) for the serious welfare concerns. We fully support the call to end this cruelty and urge everyone not to participate in such activities where live animals are treated as objects. #EndAnimalCruelty

Uhu The Spitting Cobra Gets Stuck!
21st Oct 2019, by Animal Concerns Research & Education Society (ACRES)

[REPTILE AWARENESS DAY] VENOMOUS SNAKES They’re not out to kill us all (or take over the world), as you’ll notice in the video. Equatorial spitting cobras are highly venomous– two words that instil fear and panic in us. These venomous species, including king cobras, vipers, sea kraits and coral snakes, have been around for the longest time, albeit ongoing urban developments have increased sightings of spitting cobras. Films portray grotesque snake mutants larger than a shophouse and dea...

A Place To Call Home? Not. It Was A Disheartening ..
9th Oct 2019, by Animal Concerns Research & Education Society (ACRES)

A PLACE TO CALL HOME? NOT! It was a disheartening sight to see an adult green iguana living in this cage along a corridor of a Housing Development Board (HDB). From the size of the cage to the inappropriate flooring, one can only imagine how frustrating it is for a wild animal to be unable to act upon their natural instincts. The iguana has since been seized by the National Parks Board (NParks) and a warning letter was issued to the flat owner. Wild animals, although often kept as exotic pets,...

Little Stardust Was Named For The Tiny Being She I..
7th Oct 2019, by Animal Concerns Research & Education Society (ACRES)

Little Stardust was named for the tiny being she is, all alone in the vast universe. She was found beside her deceased mother, along a mountain bike trail in a nature park. As they were rescued, she clung on to her late mother. Wild as they are, they still feel. SHE could feel. Perhaps afraid of being out in the open. Perhaps confused why momma isn’t moving. #AnimalsMatterToMe #AcresWildlifeRescue #A CRES #BeAnimalConscious

Urban Developments And Increased Wildlife Sighting..
2nd Oct 2019, by Animal Concerns Research & Education Society (ACRES)

URBAN DEVELOPMENTS AND INCREASED WILDLIFE SIGHTINGS The on-going developments in the Southwestern parts of Singapore means more sighting of Singapore’s wild neighbours, especially the long-tailed macaques. Being forest fringe animals, they will seek new resting and foraging sites in concentrated residential areas as their forests become fragmented due to our urbanisation. Animals use just about anything to move between spaces: park connectors, bridges, canals, roads and even expressways. The...

TIME FOR ART THIS WORLD ANIMAL DAY! Let your creativity flow as you immerse yourself in the beauty of the fauna and flora. A big thank-you to talented artist and long-serving volunteer Alpana Ahuja who will be our art guide for the day. [REGISTER HERE] http://bit.ly/2L3GDn8...

First-Time Mothers Be Like. Watch How The Nervous ..
30th Sep 2019, by Animal Concerns Research & Education Society (ACRES)

FIRST-TIME MOTHERS BE LIKE…. Watch how the nervous younger mother warms up to the dominant female with her social etiquette skills. And as their children play, the bigger young gently instigates play with the smaller young. Like us humans, #LongTailedMacaques have complex social structure in their troops and you may come across lone macaques in residential areas using park connectors because of habitat fragmentation. Through our wildlife management assessments, the root cause of conflicts o...

DONATE TO FUND OUR WILDLIFE RESCUE EFFORTS Thank you so much for your generous contributions thus far! We launched this Give Asia page to fund our wildlife rescue efforts for the entire 2019. We spend an average of $60.14 every hour just on rescue and rehabilitation alone, so every dollar donated will ensure sufficient funds for us to continue helping wildlife in distress. Please make a d...

27th Sep 2019, by Animal Concerns Research & Education Society (ACRES)

[GREEN IGUANAS] ILLEGAL PETS IN SINGAPORE Green iguanas, native to Central and South America, are traded worldwide for the exotic pet trade. While the trade is illegal in Singapore, ACRES has more than 29 iguanas who were handed over or rescued since we officially opened in 2009. Skyline, pictured here, is currently being treated for fungal infections and is quarantined for close monitoring. These reptiles have complex needs in captivity which are rarely met by ill-informed and incompetent pe...
