40 Seconds At Acres: Day 52 Of The #circuitbreaker
28th May 2020, by Animal Concerns Research & Education Society (ACRES)

40 SECONDS AT ACRES: DAY 52 OF THE #CIRCUITBREAKER As we get closer to the end of circuit breaker, our work continues and we are still admitting new animals. Part of tonight's clip is a special case of a #DogFacedFruitBat who came in with torn wings, unable to fly. After several weeks of cage rest and careful monitoring, the bat's wing healed and has been released back to the wild this week. We also took in a baby #Plantainsquirrel whose reunion efforts sadly failed. He and a juvenile #Commo...

26th May 2020, by Animal Concerns Research & Education Society (ACRES)

40 SECONDS AT ACRES: DAY 50 OF THE #CIRCUITBREAKER Some time back, we did post on a collared kingfisher nestling that we had rescued. About a week later, we did a second post on his progress at ACRES - where he had started eating fish from a tweezer by himself. The two videos are available here: https://www.facebook.com/ACRESasia/videos/23 7636710926251/ https://www.facebook.com/ACRESasia/ videos/2664662033811335/ All of us at ACRES are so thrilled to update that he was finally released back...

22nd May 2020, by Animal Concerns Research & Education Society (ACRES)

40 SECONDS AT ACRES: DAY 46 OF #CIRCUITBREAKER This circuit breaker period has been an incredible journey for all of us at ACRES including our hand-raised common palm civets. It's another special video that covers their journey from baby to young adults. Rehabilitating young animals takes alot of effort, patience and planning. Watch as PB, the civet who was runover by a cyclist makes a remarkable recovery and joins three other civets before being eventually released back to the wild. We would...

18th May 2020, by Animal Concerns Research & Education Society (ACRES)

40 SECONDS AT ACRES: DAY 40 OF THE #CIRCUITBREAKER As Singapore slowly opens up after this #circuitbreaker, here is an aptly timed feature of a rescued #MalayanBoxTurtle coming out of his/her shell too! Malayan box turtles are one of the native species of #turtles in #Singapore. When we rescue a box turtle, we always observe them in a native turtle #rehabilitation enclosure, to ensure that they are injury free, shy and feed naturally on locally available diet. The turtle in this video would h...

40 Seconds At Acres: Day 40 Of The #circuitbreaker
16th May 2020, by Animal Concerns Research & Education Society (ACRES)

40 SECONDS AT ACRES: DAY 40 OF THE #CIRCUITBREAKER Our rescue centre is continously receiving injured animals though this period. About two days ago, we took in a Scops owl who got stuck in a glue trap. She was probably trying to hunt a rat or a gecko who was stuck on the glue trap. Her condition is bad and we have been patiently removing the glue off her. Given her condition and the amount of feathers she has lost, it is uncertain if she will make a full recovery at this point. Please help to ...

Spitting Cobra Rescue: Day 36 Of #circuitbreaker
12th May 2020, by Animal Concerns Research & Education Society (ACRES)

Here is a recent #wildliferescue of a #spittingcobra who chose a hollow door frame as a hiding spot. Black spitting cobras have adapted to live in urban drain holes, mainly feeding on frogs. As shy as most other wildlife, they will avoid humans, unless provoked - which results in displaying #defensive behaviour. #SgWildlife #40SecondsAtACRES #ACRES #Singapore

Acres Can Only Sustain For Another 4 - 5 More Months With Depleting Funds During Circuit Breaker
11th May 2020, by Animal Concerns Research & Education Society (ACRES)

Manpower crunch has always been a problem for Acres even before the pandemic, Acres deputy chief executive officer Kalai Vanan told Mothership. But this issue has been "amplified" during Circuit Breaker, Kalai added. Currently, only around 12 to 15 staff and volunteers, including their veterinarian and six rescue officers, man the 24/7 hotline and conduct rescues. While volunteers are allowed to help at Acres which is considered as an essential service, the non-profit group has refrained from...
