Private Zoo Opts To Surrender Its Animals

We are pleased that Lye Huat Gardens in Malaysia has closed their zoo and surrendered the animals to the authorities. Conditions at the zoo were some of the worst we saw during our extensive surveys of zoos in Malaysia and the welfare of the animals was severely compromised. There was little opportunity for improvement, so we believe closing the zoo was the best course of action.

We regret that Singapore Airlines has refused to confirm if it will ship the RWS' wild-caught dolphins if they do come... We will continue to engage them and hope they will decline to be the airline responsible for transporting the 25 wild-caught dolphins from the Philippines to Singapore should they be approached by RWS.
