Letter To Editor: Why Ocean Park Was Right In Deciding Not To Import Whales
20th Sep 2011, by Animal Concerns Research & Education Society (ACRES)

South China Morning PostSep 20, 2011 I write in response to the letter by Arthur Lui ("Whales may now face worse fate", September 14). Mr Lui claims that Ocean Park, in deciding not to import beluga whales, is following opinions "which do not represent the majority views of Hong Kong people". Mr Lui thinks that "many Hongkongers would like to see whales again". As someone who last year completed 13 years of primary and secondary schooling in Hong Kong, I would li...

is pleased that justice has been served today. Mr. Tan Boon Kwee, the Director of ANA Contractor Pte Ltd (the company who messed up the construction of the ACRES Wildlife Rescue Centre) was sentenced to 2 weeks imprisonment and fined $65,000. We hope that this sends out a deterrent message and that nobody will need to go through what ACRES has gone through over the past 3 years. We now look forward to Mr. Tan clearing up all the contaminated earth at the rescue centre!

Unpublished Forum Letter: ACRES Campaigns Remains Factual
8th Sep 2011, by Animal Concerns Research & Education Society (ACRES)

I refer to last Sunday’s letter (28 Aug) “RWS responds to dolphin claims” by Krist Boo of Resorts World Sentosa. The letter contains inherent contradictions. ACRES has indeed stated that the RWS wild-caught dolphins will be used in a “pioneering interactive dolphin spa programme”, but we are clearly not sensationalising the issue and ACRES is unsure as to why this statement is inaccurate. We obtained the information from newspaper reports, as well as from RWS’ own website which sta...
