Today we spent a lovely morning with the students, teachers and mums from Chatsworth East school, who came to the AWRC for an educational visit. Luckily the rain held off, so we were able to spend time in the Outdoor Conservation Classroom learning all about native wildlife before sitting down for a talk about the wildlife trade and how we can help save wild animals. Here's a photo of Anbu, the Director of the AWRC, demonstrating how we rescue and handle pythons!

12 more hours before ACRES signs a landmark MOU with the Lao Zoo for the establishment of the first Wildlife Rescue and Education Centre in Vientiane, Lao PDR. The ACRES Wildlife Rescue and Education Centre will provide sanctuary to mainly bears! The MOU ceremony will be witnessed by H.E. Dr. Thongloun Sisoulith, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of the Lao PDR and Mr. K Shanmugam, Singapore’s Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minster for Law.

Great news for animals in Panama, announced by the League Against Cruel Sports! Last week the National Assembly of Panama passed a law which completely bans bullfighting across the country. The legislation is the first in the world to explicitly ban all forms of bullfighting. And the good news doesn’t stop there. Cruelty Free International to launch global pledge at The Body Shop International
We are delighted to announce that Cruelty Free International will be launching our first global pledge campaign with The Body Shop. (ACRES is the Asian partner of Cruelty Free International).

Today our job was to inspire youths to take action for animals, at a Service Learning Fair organised by Nanyang Junior College. The response shown by the students to our talk and booth was very encouraging, and we were happy to see many students sign up as ACRES volunteers and asking about how they can get involved with animal protection in Singapore. Thank you to the organisers for inviting ACRES, and to our student helpers who looked after us so well!
