Some kids just don't want to grow up. Pictured below is Citrus, a young yellow bittern, found at the playground. He escaped from a box that a teacher put him into and insisted on hanging around the art and craft shelf till the ACRES Wildlife Rescue Team arrived. [See next post for release update.]

Burger King Corp. announced that it will eliminate the practices of confining breeding pigs in gestation crates and egg-laying hens in battery cages from its U.S. supply chain. Hopefully Singapore will soon, follow suit.

Pearly, a Paradise Tree snake, got herself extremely lost and was found at basement 1 at an Outram MRT. She's back home among the lush vegetation and is happy to report there are no train delays :)

Did you know that there is now a ban in place on animal testing for cosmetics and their ingredients in the European Union, as well as on the sale of some cosmetics that have been tested on animals elsewhere in the world? Croatia and Norway have followed suit by banning animal tests for cosmetics and ingredients, and in 2015 Israel will also implement a ban. A young pangolin, Phoo-Ball, was caught in a goal post net. Thanks to the gardeners who reacted promptly on behalf of the distressed animal, the ACRES Wildlife Rescue Team safely removed Phoo-Ball from the tangle and the harsh sun.

These were the messages we were teaching the little ones today at Pat's Schoolhouse Claymore, helped along by the brilliant book "Mole and the baby bird", which was kindly donated by the Kassiri family for our educational programmes.

The majority of Singaporeans support catching and keeping dolphins in captivity for educational purposes, an NUS undergraduate study has found. Li Jinghan, supervised by Dr Zeehan Jaafar gathered responses on the issues from over 1,200 individuals.
