"It's been really hot recently. Even though I don't like the chlorine, I just stopped for dip. Darn. I got spotted" - A statement given in privacy by Skinnydip, the reticulated python who was rescued from a private swimming pool. They were unable to catch him, and we are not surprised because our rescue officer (James) had to get inside the pool in swimming trunks and locate the head. We have n...

Smelling of sweat this humid evening is the least of the rescue team's worries. Here on a cycling path laid a large, regurgitated monitor in the grasp of a young, slim reticulated python. The python, or Slim Shady as we call him, has been safely relocated to the waters nearby and a group of passers-by, happy to share their environment with other species, bade farewell to him. The smell of carcass decomposition around the rescue team, however, will probably linger for awhile more.

Politics of the natural world: ACRES hotline: Could you please help keep an eye on the snake if he is on the pathway? We will take about 45 minutes to reach. Caller: No worries. A kingfisher is guarding the snake. The snake will be here when you reach in 45 minutes. ACRES hotline: ??? *Blur* Okay, thank you. We will see you soon. Upon arrival, it was true that the Little Heron at that time of the day (around 10 pm plus) was confronting the baby python and did not let him go into the river ...

The Old & the New: A big tribute to our dear old van who has brought us to countless schools, roadshows, events and people all this time; she leaves us today. Some say she doesn't look her best, but we know she just has lots of character. Next in line, our brand new vehicle! All made possible thanks to the generosity of the Silent Foundation. If Sky could speak, he/she would give a sigh of relief after a rough day, that all ended well. Our heartfelt thanks goes to Esther and Max for calling us after bringing Sky home, but with the intention of helping a lost turtle. Our apologies for the discontinued Sky's sto...
