The animals received a wonderful gift this month- a $10,000 donation from Zimmer Pte. Ltd. and their staff! The main focus of the fundraising effort was a charity walk, which saw staff members blazing a trail from Hort Park to Mount Faber on a rainy day- all for the animals. Spotlight on: INDO-PACIFIC BOTTLENOSE DOLPHIN
Indo-Pacific bottlenose dolphins are truly fascinating animals, displaying some of the most complex social behaviours seen in non-human animals, as revealed by long-term studies on wild populations.
These dolphins are also known to use tools: wild individuals have been observed carrying sponges on their beaks to protect them from sea urchin spines while foraging on the sea floor!

HELP MAKE SINGAPORE FUR-FREE!
Fur is one cruel fashion statement we can do without. Yet even in sunny Singapore we see fur on sale, mainly in the form of fur trims on clothing, boots and bags, or winter clothing. It also finds its way onto keychains, hairbands, trinkets and pet toys.
ACRES is supporting a new campaign by the Change for Animals Foundation, who are hoping to end the sale of fur in Singapore.

People often ask us if they can adopt (take home) the wild animals we look after at the ACRES Wildlife Rescue Centre. The answer is no- because it’s illegal to keep these animals as pets in Singapore. And for good reason too! It’s very hard to give them the care and environment that they need.
But you can make a big difference for these rescued animals, by sponsoring their care through the Animal Benefactor scheme!
