"Meatless Mondays" Endorsed By City Of LA 29th Nov 2012, by Animal Concerns Research & Education Society (ACRES)
Wouldn't it be great to get Veggie Thursdays endorsed by the government here in Singapore too?!
Los Angeles is turning vegetarian – at least one day per week.
Under a resolution unanimously approved by the City Council earlier this month, all future Mondays in the City of Angels have been declared "Meatless Mondays."
It's part of an international campaign to cut down on meat consumption for health and environmental reasons.
Both the spiritual home of the hamburger and a haven for the

Off to The Philippines for the hearing in Court about whether Resorts World should be prevented from re-exporting the dolphins to Singapore. WAIT, they already exported the dolphins... Is Resorts World really that powerful?
Is AVA in contempt of the Philippines Court? Should AVA have waited for the final judgment from the Philippines Court before allowing the trade?
If you feel we need to fight this injustice, please share our posts and please join us at the "Candlelight Vigil and Memorial Se...

It was a rather lucky day for clumsy Brie, the Black bittern! After having crashed into someone's house, she was rescued by a kind member of public and called us for help. Brie was obviously defensive like all other bitterns, but fortunately she did not suffer any injuries and was released soon after rescue. Thanks to the caller for helping Brie and our volunteer Xiu Li for documenting our day's rescues!

Save The World's Saddest Dolphins 22nd Nov 2012, by Animal Concerns Research & Education Society (ACRES)
Rest in peace Wen Wen, one of the wild-caught dolphins held in captivity by RWS... Please help to share this.
ACRES regrets that RWS has continued to ignore our concerns about the welfare of the dolphins and we are saddened by the loss of yet another dolphin. Wen Wen was born in the wild, lived six years free in the wild, and it is tragic that he died in captivity far from home.
We urge RWS to do the right thing and work with ACRES and Earth Island Institute to rehabilitate and release the rem...

Spotlight on: Sunda Pangolin
Last week we shared the rescue story of Little Dumpling the pangolin. Here’s some more information about these unusual mammals.
A pangolin’s body is covered with tough scales made out of keratin- the same stuff our nails and hair are made from. When threatened, pangolins curl up into a ball, with their tough scales forming a protective outer covering.
They eat ants and termites, scooping them up with a long, sticky tongue which can be up to 40cm long! The...

Everyone, meet Liittle Dumpling.
Little Dumpling, meet the friends of ACRES :)
Not quite the season for rice dumplings nor soccer mania, this Sunda pangolin's excitement got the better of her. Tightly wrapped at a goal post in Turf City, Little Dumpling could hardly moved and was quite stressed under the hot sun.
Mr. Adi saw the little grey ball and called the ACRES Wildlife Rescue Hotline for the distressed animal. She sustained superficial injuries but Little Dumpling is now safe. She will ...
