Spotlight on: Malayan Sun Bear
Little Neung is a Malayan sun bear, as you can tell from the bib-shaped golden or white patch on her chest, which legend says represents the rising sun.
Ironically, sun bears are nocturnal. They lumber through the forests by night, snacking on fruits, berries, roots, insects, small birds, lizards, and rodents. They have an excellent sense of smell and extremely long claws, exceeding ten centimeters in length, which they use to rip open trees and termite nests...

Resorts World Sentosa's (RWS) acquisition of 27 wild-caught dolphins from the Solomon Islands between 2008 and 2009 contributed to the depletion of this species there. A recent scientific report confirms that previous captures of Indo-Pacific bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops aduncus) from the Solomon Islands were unsustainable and therefore that the Convention on the International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Flora and Fauna (CITES) was not complied with.

Jack and Jill, two reticulated pythons, were lounging in the afternoon warmth a few metres apart by a deep drain. While ACRES does not relocate animals in their natural habitats, these two were in the way of grass cutting plans.
So the rescue officers took a while before they managed to get both of them to budge. Jill, featured in the the video, took the cue and headed straight down to the flowing waters, swimming gracefully as passers-by respectfully peered at her silently and in awe- or shock...

Resorts World have still refused to comment about whether they are going ahead with the fireworks this evening. Here's what a paper published in the "International Journal of Comparative Psychology" states
"Responses of marine mammals to noise can often be subtle and barely detectable, and there are many documented cases of apparent tolerance of noise. However, marine mammals showing no obvious avoidance or changes in activities may still suffer important, even lethal, consequences.”

Resorts World is planning a 12-minute fireworks display for their grand opening this evening... The dolphins need your HELP!
Please urgently write to Resorts World (enquiries@rwsentosa.com and reservations@rwsentosa.com) and urge them to ensure that there are no firework displays near the dolphins (which happened last night)!
The dolphins are already being held captive and let us not possibly stress them further.
