Its been 4 weeks since Suzzie was rescued. Her fractured forearm seems quite limb and wont be strong enough for now. The swelling on her hand has subsided but unfortunately, she's not moving her fingers. She will begin her physiotheraphy sessions next week. The good news is there are fresh granulating tissues growing to cover the open wounds.
It can be extremely stressful for especially young macaques housed alone before they can be released back into the wild. The Macaque Rescue Team believes ...

A great read this Veggie Thursday!
"Oprah Winfrey once said that the start of a new year offers 'another chance for us to get it right'. One way that we can 'get it right' in the year ahead - whether our goal is to improve our health, reduce our ecological footprint or help end the exploitation of others - is to stop eating animals.
We're off to a good start. A flurry of reports so far this New Year has focused on the 'rise of the vegan'. From speculative journalists taking up Veganuary - goin...

Early 2013, we were alerted to rescue a Green iguana found inside an industrial area in Kallang. She was named Sleven, and sadly, we realized something was wrong with Sleven, starting from her bloated stomach, malformed jaws to her very awkward gait. She was diagnosed gravid, along with a lot of gas and fluids, followed by constipation. Her blood analyses did not reveal much, leaving us with a lot of symptoms to address to ensure her survival. She had also developed sores on her limbs from inact...

Suzzie – A victim of an illegal snare
We recently received a call about a macaque stuck on a tree at Sembawang Park. The rescue team- Sabrina, Uma and Connor- rushed to help, and found a female macaque hanging helplessly from a tree with her left hand caught in a snare.
Here is Sabrina’s account of the rescue: “We climbed the ladder and I held the macaque safely and securely while Uma cut the snare from her wrist. As we descended down, we were 'greeted' by her troop: the alpha male charg...
