Recently, there has been frequent sightings of a family of 4 Banded leaf monkeys in Lower Peirce Nature Reserves. Research findings point to significant milestones as the Banded leaf monkey is one of only three species of non-human primates native to Singapore. Rare, elusive and threatened by habitat loss, this species is critically endangered. The next time you visit the Nature reserves, pay very special attention to what you hear and see! The ACRES Macaque Team were greeted by a family of 4 Banded leaf monkeys in Lower Peirce Nature Reserves. Although the Banded leaf monkey is globally listed as vulnerable, it is one of the rarest mammals in Singapore where it was first described in 1838.
