GALA DINNER FEVER IS HERE AGAIN!
This year, ACRES will be going back to basics, and to where the heart is. We want to appreciate everyone for selflessly caring for the animals, hence our fitting theme: Passion for Compassion.
We have so much happening this May, so that we can all come together to celebrate the positive journey we traveled thus far and will travel from this year on!
So in the meantime, save the date!

VOLUNTEER ORIENTATION AND OPEN HOUSE, 26th APRIL: YOU'RE INVITED!
Dear ACRES Supporters,
We have strived together over many years to bring an end to animal cruelty. Each accomplishment we share brings us closer to a world where all living beings live together free from cruelty.
But we cannot remain stagnant. Each step forward demands yet another step. In 2015, we have many projects in the pipeline that we want you to be a part of. You may be a student, baker, or musician - it matters not - f...

LET’S CATCH UP WITH KATHORA, AN OLD FRIEND.
Back in 2014, we wrote a Facebook post about a turtle we rescued in Pasir Ris, who had been run over by a vehicle. The poor animal had suffered severe injuries to her carapace, and the trauma had probably caused a permanent dent in her shell as well. Kathora has since come a long way, and is now able to eat and swim independently. She spends most of her time basking in the sun at our sanctuary and showing a 24/7 smiley face to all of us. (:
Her 201...

IN LOVING MEMORY OF RAMBA
Today marks the 11th anniversary of Ramba's passing. Still missing her loads...
Ramba was the inspiration behind the setting up of ACRES in 2001 and the memories of the time I spent with her will always remain in my heart. Still and always thinking of you Ramba.
I've attached the story and poem I wrote 11 years ago.

KEEP THEM WILD AND FREE: LARGE PYTHONS
Giant snakes - such as the Burmese python and reticulated python - can grow to a length of 6 metres – the height of 4 humans! And they can weigh 200 pounds or more. They urinate and defecate as much as a horse does, and you can expect to be caring for them for more than 25 years – one quarter of your lifespan.
All too often, want-to-be owners purchase these large snakes, ignorant or in denial of the immense effort and financial outlay needed. Then, t...

“THE BEST GIFT IN LIFE IS A SECOND CHANCE.”
Many of us would agree to the above statement, especially when we realise that we did not make things right the first time round. Making mistakes is part and parcel of life; everyone deserves to rewrite their bad history. Animals, like us, treasure second chances; more so when they fall into foul luck of becoming someone’s trading item, illegal pet or money-making machine.
It’s never too late to make a positive change! Start today by making ...

PASSION FOR COMPASSION! A CELEBRATION- COMING SOON!
Look at how time flies! Before we know it, we are already 4 months into the year, and next month it’s already time to celebrate ACRES's birthday!
There has been great progress over the past year with regard to animal-related policies in Singapore, how we prevent cruelty to animals and an increase in the number of voices that we, as a community, give to the animals. We want to share and celebrate all of this progress with all of you - our su...

WALNUT MEETS PEANUT!
Many of you may have read about Walnut, the red-footed tortoise who was recovering from severe necrotic skin wounds. He was also the inspiration for our recent online fundraiser “Warmth for Walnut”. Walnut has shown his ability to be tough and hardy - as red-footed tortoises are known to be - and has since recovered.
Here is the link to the initial post about Walnut: https://www.facebook.com/ACRESasia/posts/101527543 20716523
Walnut is now alert, active and has re-gr...

BIKE AND ROSSA HEAD HOME!
Look at them go!
It’s always heart-warming to see the animals that we've rescued recover and greet their natural home once again. Catch this short clip as Bike and Rossa return back home after 1 month of intensive care and rehabilitation for their injuries.
ACRES would like to thank Nparks for their support and Animal Recovery and Veterinary Referral Centre (ARVC) for providing optimal veterinary care for Bike and Rossa.
