2 MORE DAYS TILL THE CLIMB!
We are reaching our SECOND challenge! These amazing adventurers have been training hard for the climb challenge this week, to raise money to end animal cruelty.
Over the past two months, they have put themselves through several intensive training sessions to condition their bodies for the real deal.
There was a slight problem with the flight to Mount Rinjani due to the eruption of Mount Raung causing the closure of the airport. Thankfully, the airport has re-open...

OUR TREATMENT ROOM REVAMP IS FINALLY COMPLETE!
Earlier this year, we embarked on a project to improve the animal holding units in our Treatment Room. The Treatment Room is where we house sick and quarantined animals. As an NGO with limited resources, we previously needed to improvise and use anything suitable at our disposal to provide rescued animals with the best possible care. This meant using assorted pet carriers and crates as holding units. Although suitable, they were not ideal and not u...

SPERM WHALE IN SINGAPORE!
Our friend Ria of Wild Singapore has very helpfully created a blogspot with all the news about the sperm whale. Check it out here: http://wildshores.blogspot.sg/2015/07/whale-in-sin gapore.html
It’s unfortunate that a whale died in our waters, but at the same time it is encouraging news that there are whales in the waters around Singapore.
We are well-known as having one of the busiest ports in the world and a lot of boat traffic, but what is not so well-known is t...

CELEBRATING OUR FELLOW EARTHLINGS!
On the 26th of June 2015, Nepal celebrated Kukur Puja - the second day of Tihar (the Festival of Lights). On this day, Nepalese cherish the special relationship that humans and all dogs share, be they pets, service dogs or strays! Crows and cows are also revered during this five-day-long festival.
BUT we don’t have to wait for a special day to acknowledge our sentient animal friends, whether they be wild, domestic, mammalian, oceanic, hooved, scaled, or fe...

A CHILD’S COMPASSION CREATES HOPE FOR ANIMALS
At ACRES, we never stop believing in a brighter future for our furry, feathery and scaly friends. And we know that children play a vital role in creating this brighter future. That’s why our Humane Education programmes are a crucial component of our work.
Every now and then, we hear of touching stories of compassion that show there is indeed hope for the animals. Here is one such story about a little boy who attended an ACRES talk on animal pro...

NATIVE WILDLIFE RESCUE ROUNDUP: 10th JULY 2015
1. (Top two) Can you spot the snakes playing hide and seek in the top two pictures? Do you know what species of snake they are? When spotted in a garden, these snakes are probably far more scared of us than we are of them, and try desperately to hide wherever they can. Some succeed, while the rest may just continue to look desperate!
2. (Bottom right) Meet “Gizmo” the barn owl, who had secured an awkward spot to roost for the day, raising con...
