Love is Ageless, with a Sweet, Happy “Tail”... “Dear Friends at the SPCA, We just wanted to write to say how much we have enjoyed our cat Panda since adopting him last November. Although he was described as a "senior kittizen" on your website, our seven-year-old black and white short hair has shown he is certainly not ready to join the retirement sun-and-sit crowd. He may be seven-years-old, but he loves to seek out attention, is very comfortable with all kinds of people and adds so muc...

SPCA has just conducted another round of the Trap-Neuter-Release (TNR) Sterilisation exercise of the community cats over at St John’s Island, over the past weekend (18-19 Oct, 2014). We attempted to trap humanely as many cats as humanly possible, given the short window period of only one day to trap. The trapped cats were sedated and then neutered, the next day, following which they were released back to the community on the island, once they have come to. The benefits of the TNR exercise g...

‘Not Always Safe For Motorist To Stop After Hitting Animal’
17th Oct 2014, by SPCA Singapore

SPCA, with ACRES, will be lodging an appeal against the Ministry of Home Affairs' decision NOT to include animals like cats, monkeys, birds and rabbits under the Road Traffic Act, against the proposal of the Animal Welfare Legislation Review Committee to include the latter. This means that, under current legislation, it is not a crime if the motorist knocks down, say, a cat and drives off without rendering any assistance to the cat that has been run over. SPCA will be working on the appeal with...

Love is Ageless, especially the love of Seniors! Why Adopt A Senior Pet? According to most veterinarians, a dog falls into the “Senior” category around age seven years. The size of a dog, however, affects this categorization. Smaller dogs tend to mature slower and become seniors later in life than larger dogs. SPCA’s shelter does have healthy and active senior dogs that are in need of a loving, forever home. The senior dogs can make great pets, for many reasons: 1. Senior dogs at she...

SPCA rescues cat caught between panes and frame…. Earlier this morning (Oct 14, 2014), we received a distress call about a cat trapped between the window panes and frame of a second floor flat unit along Merpati Road. The cream/seal point-coloured tabby was actually firmly wedged between adjacent panes and the frame. Our rescue officer, Daniel, had to nudge the cat slowly down a pane, in order to loosen the grip on the cat. A catchpole’s noose was then gingerly looped over the cat, enab...

LING & JING, a pair of female rabbits, Happily Ever After! Female fluffy pair, LING (grey bunny) and JING (white bunny), were both adopted from SPCA on Easter Sunday 2014. Their adopters, Catherine and Custer Ho, struck instant chemistry with the pair, that very day, the moment Jing passed urine on Custer as he picked her up from her cage, and Ling happened to be Jing’s grayish counterpart that also caught Catherine’s eye. Both bunnies have, since then, been doing fine. Ling-girl is ver...
