Sterilisation is key!
The SPCA takes in close to 400 unwanted and abandoned animals every month and there are even more animals looking for homes. Pet owners can help reduce this problem by sterilising their pets, and by being responsible owners in ensuring that they can provide a forever home for the animal.
Sterilisation is an operation that removes reproductive organs to prevent the animal from creating more offspring. The procedure is performed under general anaesthetic, so the animal feel...

It has been a sweet reunion for Mdm Yap’s family and their 11-year-wise Schnauzer, SHAN SHAN, as well as for Sobana Rachael’s family and their 4-year-wise Shih-Tsu TEDDY. Both canines and their respective human companions were elated at seeing each other again, after having been separated.

Pet owners, please microchip your pet and register that microchip (if you haven’t)!
A microchip is a tiny device about the size of a rice grain and it is usually implanted between the shoulder blades of your pet. It carries a unique identification number so that your animal can be traced back to you if it has lost its way.
However, you must ensure that the microchip is registered otherwise it would be rendered useless. So why should you microchip your pet? Animals disappear for many reasons...

SPCA Canine Education Tip:
Understanding Nuisance Barking Part 4: The Lonely Barker
If your dog is barking when it’s left alone, change your dog’s environment. Dogs don’t do well when they’re left alone for long periods of time – if your dog enjoys the company of other dogs, explore daycare or pet-sitting options when you’re not home. When you’re home, set aside time for regular exercise, games and training sessions to give your dog that social contact, and the physical and mental...

Just last Sat (3 Jan) afternoon, SPCA rescued a community dog from being trapped between the metal rails, of a fence, at Old Choa Chu Kang Road.
The dog, a brown Cross-Breed, was observed to have been stuck in its tight spot for some time. (It might’ve attempted to jump through the fence, leading to its predicament.)
Our rescue officer, Eugene, then attempted to free the dog, nudging rearwards its shoulder blades, one and then the other, through the gap. (It helped that the dog was suitabl...

We’re looking for a committed, keen adopter for DING, an exceptional cat. (He is a ginger/white, 2-year-old local cat.)
Ding (see videoclip) is a smart, perceptive cat with an extra sweet temperament and seems to communicate readily with humans, in his own unmistakably affectionate ways. He is receptive to human talk, and from our observations is a highly cooperative and amiable darling (and so unassuming! ). Last but not least, he comes across as a really loving companion!
He boasts prac...
