Introducing 2 of our rescued animals who've become best buddies...Meet GUGU (kitten rescued from a glue board) and PEDRO (an abandoned paralysed Chihuahua)!
Both with heart-wrenching experiences, but fearless and determined, and hopeful about finding loving homes!

among other uses.

On Saturday (11 April), SPCA's dedicated volunteer team of Dog Mentors as well as our very own Dr Kang Nee, of cheerfuldogs.com, conducted an interactive workshop for dog owners and dog lovers called "Through the Dog's Eyes". It featured fun and interactive games for our participants and our canine residents to explore force-free, rewards-based training methods that they can apply on their own dogs. We've managed to get at least 50 motorbikes washed (and also waxed) at our motorbike wash fundraising event last evening, all within 4 hours, and thank all our valued supporters and friends who have made this possible. There were also brisk sales of SPCA merchandise at the event.
Once again, kudos to Fify Adnan of Marriott Vacation Club for breathing this idea to life and spearheading this event.

Our volunteers from Marriott Vacation Club helping out generously with their time and efforts, washing and waxing motorbikes and weeding at the fences!
Have a bike that needs serious cleaning and/or waxing? Bike over to SPCA now, by 7.30pm today, and the S$10 charged per bike wash (or S$14 per bike wash-cum-wax) goes to SPCA and for a good cause!

Cat going upstairs or downstairs? That's a tricky one to figure out - but a happy cat is a free-roaming cat - free-roaming inside the home!

Found, fostered, adopted:
DEXTER, MOUSE, ROXY and SOX, a quartet of kittens
These four kittens were found at Tuas Road on 5 December 2014. We took in all four, along with their mother, in view of the traffic conditions of the area where they were found. Merely about two weeks old by the time the kittens could be weaned from their mother, and following our vets’ clearance, they were up for their fostering phase.

Just yesterday (6 April) afternoon, we were alerted to a cat spotted to be trapped on a roof beam, at a block at Bedok Reservoir Road.
Our rescue pair relied on a long catchpole and a long ladder to rescue the cat. Our informer, from Light of Life vet clinic, also provided (ground) support, no less, tapping a pink, floral-printed safety net, to catch the cat in case. The cat was then reunited with the owner.

3 rabbits found in cages outside a home (and allegedly abandoned) on Easter Sunday
[SPCA Ref. No.: AH 127769]
On 5 April 2015 (Easter Sunday) at about 9am, three rabbits in two separate cages (see photo) were found allegedly abandoned near a ground floor unit at Block 720, Woodlands Avenue 6 (see photo).

Abandoning your pet on the streets is a crime.
It is cruel to abandon one's pets as they are domestic animals that have not learned how to survive outside of a sheltered home where food and water are readily provided.
Under the revised Animals and Birds (Amendment) Act 2014, one can be fined up to $15,000 or receive a jail term of up to 18 months, or both, for one's first offence as an individual.

It's the 2nd Easter Sunday ever for rabbit pair Ling-girl and Jing-girl in Catherine Chong's family (who adopted the bunnies exactly a year ago from SPCA, on Easter Sunday 2014!).
Though with differing personalities, both girls have become BFFs (Best (Furry) Friends Forever), and they groom each other, sleep together, eat together and even poo 2-gether! In any case, friends who play together stick together.

As we wish a Happy Easter to all, we urge caution in the giving of pet rabbits as presents expressly to commemorate Easter, many of which have become abandoned once the novelty has worn off.
Prospective adopters READY for the lifelong commitment to rabbits can take heart that there are many adoptable sweet, cuddly and loving rabbits looking for their forever homes.

MOGGIE goes home, at last!
We appealed to prospective adopters to give MOGGIE, our extraordinary cat, a forever home, twice on this FB page, in early Feb and again in early March 2015.
A cream/white male around three years, Moggie is without a front right limb and has a malformed left hind leg (possibly due to a congenital condition).

MERLIN, the kitty
Merlin was found underneath a lorry at the SPCA’s new premises’ construction site on 10 January 2015. Following veterinary checks at the SPCA clinic, he was still a little too young for a permanent home, as he was only three weeks old then.

This March vacation, SPCA was visited by its very own youth supporters who learned all about dog and cat behaviour as well as how to care for them. These young animal lovers brought with them their compassion and kindness to show just how generous and community-driven young people can be.
