As we move another month closer to our relocation to Sungei Tengah (slated for early 2016), we are making another appeal for donations to help finance the building of our new premises for abandoned and abused animals. All donations will be very much appreciated. To help us, please visit: http://www.spca.org.sg/helpus.asp (As the SPCA is an Institute of Public Character (IPC), your donation to the SPCA is 300% tax-deductible for this Jubilee Year (2015), following from Budget 2015.) SPCA was featured on "The 5 Show", on MediaCorp's Channel 5, just last Fri (10 April), and was delighted to take into the studio our senior dog Ida (about 10 years old). SPCA reiterated its stand, that it is against culling but for sterilisation as an effective and humane means of managing the stray population. We also shared with viewers how Project ADORE has enabled more suitable local cross-breed dogs to find homes in HDB households. SPCA’s shelter has many sweet and adoptable cross-breed...

PEDRO, a senior white/brown Chihuahua (around 6-7 years), was found, possibly abandoned, at Toh Crescent on 9 March 2015. He appears to have a hindlimb congenital deformity, and patchy fur loss on his back, but is otherwise healthy and alert. Regardless of his circumstances, his zeal for life hasn't wobbled one bit. This affable charmer is energetic yet sweet and affectionate. He's not microchipped when we found him, and we have since placed ads for him in the Classifieds, but his (ex-) ow...

On Saturday (11 April), SPCA's dedicated volunteer team of Dog Mentors as well as our very own Dr Kang Nee, of cheerfuldogs.com, conducted an interactive workshop for dog owners and dog lovers called "Through the Dog's Eyes". It featured fun and interactive games for our participants and our canine residents to explore force-free, rewards-based training methods that they can apply on their own dogs. Thank you to all who came to participate on such a sweltering but enriching day! If you are inte...

We've managed to get at least 50 motorbikes washed (and also waxed) at our motorbike wash fundraising event last evening, all within 4 hours, and thank all our valued supporters and friends who have made this possible. There were also brisk sales of SPCA merchandise at the event. Once again, kudos to Fify Adnan of Marriott Vacation Club for breathing this idea to life and spearheading this event. Here's looking forward to the next fun(d) wash!

Cat going upstairs or downstairs? That's a tricky one to figure out - but a happy cat is a free-roaming cat - free-roaming inside the home! SPCA's Inspectorate, in the course of its investigation work, encounters cases of cats tied up or caged in cramped conditions regularly (indoors or outdoors) by their owners. Denying felines their freedom is not a kind act. Responsible cat owners in high-rise buildings will ensure their pet's safety too, by meshing up window spaces as there have been tra...

Help us reach 1,000 volunteers, for SPCA’s Flag Day on Saturday 16 May 2015! SPCA relies purely on donations to sustain its various animal welfare services, as we do not receive any funding from the government. Proceeds raised from this event will help us raise funds for our new premises at Sungei Tengah, to enable us to help even more abandoned, abused, injured or ill animals that come through our doors. Help us also to better support our 24-hour emergency rescue service for sick and in...

Found, fostered, adopted: DEXTER, MOUSE, ROXY and SOX, a quartet of kittens These four kittens were found at Tuas Road on 5 December 2014. We took in all four, along with their mother, in view of the traffic conditions of the area where they were found. Merely about two weeks old by the time the kittens could be weaned from their mother, and following our vets’ clearance, they were up for their fostering phase. We sought the kind help of our regular foster parent, Ms Sandra Matthews, who...

Just yesterday (6 April) afternoon, we were alerted to a cat spotted to be trapped on a roof beam, at a block at Bedok Reservoir Road. Our rescue pair relied on a long catchpole and a long ladder to rescue the cat. Our informer, from Light of Life vet clinic, also provided (ground) support, no less, tapping a pink, floral-printed safety net, to catch the cat in case. The cat was then reunited with the owner. Our thanks to Light of Life vet, for the tip-off and the rescue support! We would al...

Abandoning your pet on the streets is a crime. It is cruel to abandon one's pets as they are domestic animals that have not learned how to survive outside of a sheltered home where food and water are readily provided. Under the revised Animals and Birds (Amendment) Act 2014, one can be fined up to $15,000 or receive a jail term of up to 18 months, or both, for one's first offence as an individual. We urge all owners to always uphold responsible pet ownership and never to abandon their pets...
