We have been apprised of rabbit sightings at the very location where we found a dead rabbit (days ago) and a carrier with five allegedly abandoned rabbits (a month back). (See our Appeal notice posted here yesterday: https://goo.gl/sl2rq8)

Two days ago (13 July 2015) at about 7.40am, a pink carrier was spotted by our officer at a walkway on Bukit Batok Road leading towards the Pan-Island Expressway (PIE), just after the Traffic Police speed camera. Rescued, then fostered (before adoption): SOPHIE, the puppy
Sophie, a brown/tan cross-breed puppy, was brought to our shelter, on 24 April 2015, shortly after being found (possibly abandoned) at Pioneer Walk. While our vets found her healthy, she was merely about six weeks old then, and too young to be up for adoption.

Just last Thurs (2 July 2015) evening, we rushed to the aid of a community kitten heard mewing in despair, within a drainage pipe, on the second floor of Golf Line School at Keppel Club Driving Range.
Our Rescue Officer, Daniel, tried locating the kitten, then attempting to lure it out of the pipe by placing an opened can of cat food at the upper opening.

Students from Tanglin Secondary School engaged their fellow schoolmates about animal welfare through presentations, and also raised over $1,100 for the SPCA. The money collected was then used to purchase pet food and supplies for the animals at our shelter. Thank you, young animal welfare champions of Tanglin Secondary School!

Temporary closure of SPCA adoption area on 4 JULY (Sat) - 11am to 2pm
Our shelter's adoption area will be closed on 4 JULY (Saturday) from 11am to 2pm, for our Dog Mentor & Mentee Showcase.
However, our reception office will be still open during this time, for visitors keen on making donations or purchasing SPCA merchandise.
The adoption area will be open again to the public, from 2pm to 4pm.

Yesterday evening (July 2) at Block 174, Toa Payoh Lorong 1, eight of our volunteers joined our officers (Selina, Yao Huang and Lawrence), in our door-to-door appeal for witnesses, hoping to find more leads on the case of the allegedly abandoned, maggot-infested rabbit (for which we posted an Appeal for Information here, on June 26 2015).

How To Tell If Your Dog Is Overheating

We'd like to remind all dog owners NOT to leave their pet dogs for even a few minutes in a car, while running an errand. The temperature inside a stationary car can soar in mere minutes, and increases exponentially as compared to the temperature outside the car. With their much smaller bodies, animals can sustain brain damage or even die from heatstroke in just under 15 minutes.
