NFL's Tyrann Mathieu Suffers In Hot Car To Promote Pet Safety 24th Jul 2015, by SPCA Singapore
Yet another case of a dog being left in a locked car has been recently reported to the SPCA, and we would like to strongly advise pet owners, again, against leaving any animal in any vehicle, unattended, in any circumstance.
In Singapore’s tropical climate, a parked vehicle can become a furnace in no time, even with the windows open. The temperature, humidity and lack of ventilation inside a stationary vehicle can rise rapidly, to the point that your pet can sustain brain damage or even die f...

Look who’s dropped by earlier today!
It’s PEDRO the Chihuahua, whose adoptive family has just brought him to our shelter for a visit, on his way to the groomers.
Pedro is pictured here with Mohan, our Shelter Supervisor, who has been his main fosterer during his short-term stay with us. (Pedro is accompanied by his green buddy, Frogger, whom he also seeks solace with, at times.)
(We found him (allegedly abandoned) at Toh Crescent in March 2015, with his hind limbs congenitally deformed. Ou...

National Day is just around the corner, and we will be spotlighting here four of our Singapura (canine and feline) Specials – our homegrown, local breeds, leading up to National Day.
A forever home has been long overdue for these Specials, all of whom have been with us a while now. They may be among our more senior animals, but they won’t give any less love than a younger animal can. Help us share this post, and make this National Day extra special for them, by taking them further to ...

Adoption Spotlight: VIKING
Viking’s a raider, alright - of hearts. This (very) pointy-eared, brown/white Cross-Breed is a bolt of pure energy. (See video clip: https://goo.gl/5yBa7U)
He loves the sunlight, lots of open grassy patches, and an owner who’s just as playful. Which would be perfect if you’d rather not have a couch potato who merely eats munchies and watches TV all day. Viking loves games, which reflects as much on his mental acuity, and picks up on rules fast. He’s also a g...

(Viewer discretion is advised)
Two days ago (13 July 2015) at about 7.40am, a pink carrier was spotted by our officer at a walkway on Bukit Batok Road leading towards the Pan-Island Expressway (PIE), just after the Traffic Police speed camera. Our investigating team arrived at the scene to find the carrier empty, but a dead animal was spotted on the left lane of the road, most possibly run over multiple times by moving vehicles. Tufts of white fur and excrement were also found in the pink carr...

Rescued, then fostered (before adoption): SOPHIE, the puppy
Sophie, a brown/tan cross-breed puppy, was brought to our shelter, on 24 April 2015, shortly after being found (possibly abandoned) at Pioneer Walk. While our vets found her healthy, she was merely about six weeks old then, and too young to be up for adoption.
A kind fosterer, Ms Bettina Storer, stepped forward, offering to help care for Sophie in her initial months. She gave the latter a warm and nurturing home environment to ready ...

Just last Thurs (2 July 2015) evening, we rushed to the aid of a community kitten heard mewing in despair, within a drainage pipe, on the second floor of Golf Line School at Keppel Club Driving Range.
Our Rescue Officer, Daniel, tried locating the kitten, then attempting to lure it out of the pipe by placing an opened can of cat food at the upper opening.
With still no sign of the kitten nearer the pipe's opening after some time, Daniel and a staff member of the school then utilized a hose t...
