ADOPTION SPOTLIGHT – LAUREL
Laurel was adopted in February 2014 but returned to us in October 2015 as her ex-owners cited that Laurel did not get along with their other cat.
This four year old, tabby girl is independent and is quite an expert at climbing multi-tier cat trees.
If you are interested to adopt Laurel, please do pay her a visit and have a chat with our adoption counsellors, to find out more about this chill girl.

SPRING CLEANING DOES NOT MEAN DECLUTTERING OF YOUR PETS
With just two weeks to the Lunar New Year and as we busy ourselves with spring cleaning, we would like to take the opportunity to remind that cleaning up does not mean getting rid of the family pet.
Pets are sentient beings and they rely on us for their needs. When we decide to include an animal to the family, it is up to us to provide them with the lifelong care that they require, even in their old age and when they are sick.
They ar...

Adoption Spotlight - Spring And Summer 14th Jan 2017, by SPCA Singapore
ADOPTION SPOTLIGHT - SPRING AND SUMMER
Spring and Summer were rescued in August 2016 at Pasir Panjang Terminal, when they were just a few days young. A member of the public contacted us about them when she noticed that their mother had not come back for them, for a few days in a row.
Our staff took turns to nurse them until they were old enough to be fostered. Thereafter, our regular fosterer, Ms Rebecca Mo took over and even managed to get Snow, their sibling brother adopted.
The girls ...

The ST Guide To... Adopting A Pet 13th Jan 2017, by SPCA Singapore
ADOPT, DON'T BUY
We take in around 200 animals each month and receives calls every day from pet owners wanting to give up their pets. Many of these animals are victims of impulse buying – their owners did not fully consider the lifetime commitment that goes into responsible pet ownership.
The arrival of a pet changes the dynamics of a household considerably and for years. Someone has to take responsibility for their daily needs - feeding, exercise, health care and grooming amongst other ...

What do black cats have to do with Friday the 13th?
Nothing at all!
Black cats have been associated with a witch’s brew of superstition, and society’s portrayal of black cats as unlucky or evil, makes it even more challenging for them to be adopted.
It’s time to meow out of the dark ages. The only bad luck following cats is people’s superstitions.
Here are some of our lovely black coat animals that are waiting for a second chance, to go home with you.
Cleo is a sweet girl of abou...

ABANDONMENT IS A CRIME
These days, there are a number of avenues to find a home for a pet, if one is unable to care for it due to extenuating circumstances. Abandonment should never be an option. Unfortunately, it seems like this chinchilla’s owner chose just that.
This lovely creature was left in a cage at Block 570 Choa Chu Kang Street 52 late last year. We referred the case to the authorities as there were CCTVs in the vicinity. Investigations are ongoing.
Chinchillas are not easy pets ...

Efforts To Manage Stray Animals Paying Off 9th Jan 2017, by SPCA Singapore
A LITTLE MORE EMPATHY WILL GO A LONG WAY
Stray animals, also known as street or community animals, have been part of our environment for decades. Numerous individual caregivers often make significant personal sacrifices to look after these animals.
It is heartening to see support for community animals from the public - http://www.straitstimes.com/forum/letters-on-the-w eb/do-more-to-support-those-who-feed-strays

We are proud to announce that Kaiser has been adopted this morning.
Eight year old Kaiser is a Singapura Special, that was found in the Farrer Park vicinity in 2014, wearing a black collar and leash. Despite attempts to reunite him with his owners, no one came forward to claim him.
Easy-going Kaiser has since been with us and we thank Tracy and her family for making a few trips down to SPCA to interact with him, prior to adopting this handsome boy.

2016 - IT’S A WRAP
Dear Supporters
2016 was a big year for the SPCA. In January, we vacated our home at Mount Vernon to usher in a new era of the SPCA in Sungei Tengah. In less than a week, 150 animals were shipped to the countryside in the far west. Our new purpose built animal welfare centre has more space and facilities for our animals, and people too. It has been wonderful seeing our dogs enjoy the large runs, playing and running around with staff and volunteers.
Our Inspectorate has be...

OUR YEAR IN REVIEW – ADVOCACY AND EDUCATION
We continue to raise awareness on animal welfare issues that affect all creatures great and small.
This year, we advocated for wild animals to be kept wild, where they belong. Wild animals have special needs and it is difficult to keep them healthy and alive in captivity. Despite it being illegal, wild animals are still being kept as pets in Singapore. From turtles and tortoises on the restricted list, to various lizards and snakes, sugar gliders...

We counselled owners to improve conditions for their pets where necessary, offering advice and support. Solutions often had to be worked for the benefit of the pet and the...
