SIX YEARS LATER, ROVER HAS A HOME In May 2012, a lost, tiny brown coloured puppy was brought to a police post by a member of public. The SPCA subsequently took in this two month old puppy. We named him Rover. Six long years later, in April 2018, a kind couple visited SPCA, fell in love with Rover and decided to give him the forever-home he deserved. It is such touching stories which motivate us to do more for the animals under our care – to continue spreading the message about adopting and g...

Want Lovelier Fins? Pet Fish Get Cosmetic Fixes, A..
28th May 2018, by SPCA Singapore

APPRECIATE ANIMALS THE WAY THEY ARE This article brings to light a disturbing practice in Singapore. There is scientific evidence that fish feel pain, contrary to what the unlicensed cosmetic surgery practitioners quoted in the article have said. It is highly questionable as to whether adequate anesthesia, and pre and post-surgery pain relief, is provided for procedures that are presently being carried out by unlicensed individuals. The SPCA is strongly against invasive aesthetic procedures...

25th May 2018, by SPCA Singapore

THINK OF THE ANIMALS THIS VESAK DAY Every Vesak Day, animals like turtles, fishes, and birds are bought and released in places such as reservoirs, parks, and beaches. Did you know that it is illegal to do so in Singapore? While the act of mercy release comes with good intention, unfortunately, there are severe negative consequences for both the animals, as well as the ecosystems they are released into. The animals very often do not have the ability to survive in the wild and will likely suffer...

Teeth To Tusk. Did You Know The Teeth Of Small Ani..
21st May 2018, by SPCA Singapore

TEETH TO TUSK Did you know the teeth of small animals (rabbits, guinea pigs and hamsters) never stop growing? Just like our nails on our fingers and toes, they require regular grooming. What can owners do to prevent overgrown teeth is to provide them with a variety of food such as good quality pallets, hay and also chew toys. They require constant chewing to prevent overgrowing of their teeth. If required, do bring your pet for a visit to the vet to trim their teeth.

It appeared that the cat had fallen onto the tight ledge and was afraid to move a muscle. The distressed feline thankfully stayed calm during the rescue and was quickly brought to safety by our officer. The cat was later reunited with its owner. We would like to thank the caller for alerting us. If you spot any animals in need, here ...

CAT STUCK IN A PIPE We received an urgent call about a cat that was stuck in a plastic pipe near a power supply building in Eunos. By the time our Animal Rescue Officers arrived at the scene, the dehydrated feline was highly stressed and was crouched in an awkward position in the pipe. After two desperate attempts at getting the cat out, he was finally freed. He was g...
