Have you ever seen your guinea pig jumping or kicking around and wondered if something was wrong? Fret not, it means you are taking good care of him.
This behaviour where a guinea pig is seen jumping around, or kicking his legs is known as popcorning. The action is known by that term because the action resembles a kernel of popcorn popping. This unique behaviour is commonly seen in the younger guinea pigs who are happy and excited!

NO TO CARROTS!
Rabbits are herbivores and a common misconception is that rabbits eat mainly carrots. However, it is bad and unhealthy for rabbits to eat too many carrots.
Carrots are high in sugar, and should be given to rabbits only as an occasional treat and not as their main source of food.
A balanced diet for rabbits consists of an unlimited amount of hay, fresh vegetables (eg. bok choy and romaine lettuce), pellets, and fresh water.

We are often asked whether a hamster can be bathed using water.
Hamsters have a layer of essential oils on their fur to keep themselves healthy. By giving it a bath using water, the layer of essential oils will be stripped off and the hamster may catch a cold. Recently, a member of public heard meowing coming from his kitchen. He looked around and was shocked to find a kitten sitting on the bottom ledge of his kitchen window, looking right back at him. Unsure of what to do, the individual decided to call the SPCA's emergency hotline.
