1st Feb 2019, by SPCA Singapore

A PET IS FOR LIFE – NOT JUST A SEASON The festive season is a busy period for our shelter. There is usually an influx of owners who want to surrender their pets before the holidays. Over the past few months, there has been an estimated 50% increase in such requests. During the festive season, it is easy to get caught up in the festivities and make an impulse decision to get a pet. As a result, some are not truly aware of the time and financial commitment involved when it comes to being a pet...

1st Feb 2019, by SPCA Singapore

PARTY OF THREE These triplets, consisting of two males and a female, were found abandoned on a road. A kind caller spotted them and immediately called us for help. Our Animal Rescue Officer brought them back to the SPCA clinic for a health check. The veterinary team decided it would be best for the kittens to be fostered first, in order to regain their strength. We appealed to our fosterers for help and one of our regular fosterers, Pearl, decided to take the kittens in. Here is an account of ...

RESPONSIBLE PET OWNERSHIP Responsible pet ownership involves a pet owner taking responsibility for the overall well-being of their pet. This includes making both the time and financial commitment throughout the animal’s life. When a pet falls ill, it is the owner’s responsibility to ensure that the animal gets the proper treatment for it to recover. We understand that some pet owners may not be able to afford medical care. In such cases, the pet owner should seek assistance. However, the ...

Chinchillas As Pets. Chinchillas Are Commonly Foun..
14th Jan 2019, by SPCA Singapore

CHINCHILLAS AS PETS Chinchillas are commonly found in the Andes Mountains of South America, where the climate is cool and dry. Their fur is dense enough to keep them warm, and they are sought after because of their adorable appearance and luxurious-feeling fur. The SPCA does not encourage the keeping of chinchillas as pets, as our hot and humid tropical weather can be harmful or even deadly for the animal. To combat the heat, owners must keep the living conditions cool and dry, controlled to a...
