HAPPY TALES: RUFUS, ADOPTED BY GRACE
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
One of the first photos we saw on SPCA's website was of Rufus. Coincidentally, we saw Rufus at SPCA and immediately fell in love with him, only to realise he was the same dog on the website! We knew we had to bring him home. We did a lot of research on crate training and were so worried about making his homecoming comfortable. When we got home, he walked into the house and directly into his play crate to pick a toy on his own!

Our Animal Rescue Officer Working The Night Shift,.. 11th May 2020, by SPCA Singapore
Our animal rescue officer working the night shift, responded to a call last week regarding a community cat after its regular caregiver noticed something off about him.
When our officers arrived on the scene, they found the 8-year-old hiding beneath a car. The cat was noticeably frail, sickly and had a wound on his face. It took our officer some coaxing to put the cat at ease before he took hold of the feline. The cat was then rushed to a private vet clinic and was brought back to SPCA for foll...

May: Natsumaru is a 10-year-old cross Persian cat. He was known for asking a second helping of food. I first spotted Natsu at the cat sanctuary as I am a volunteer with the SPCA. Natsu walked up to me and placed his paws on my hand. At that moment, I fel...

Happy Tales Leika, Adopted By Monika Anderegg Fami.. 6th May 2020, by SPCA Singapore
HAPPY TALES: LEIKA, ADOPTED BY MONIKA ANDEREGG & FAMILY
Monika: We had four cats before adopting Leika. I also have three young children with my youngest having special needs. We realised a dog would be a perfect pet as dogs could bond strongly with family members and teach kids to be responsible. Our daughter, Raffaella, fell in love with Leika immediately. Leika was sitting quietly in her corner, looking straight at us with her warm, beautiful dark eyes.
Leika was interested in the cats too...

SPCA'S DR CHOW: VET & FOSTERER
After attending to multiple cases in the day, Dr Chow (SPCA's locum vet) starts his 'night shift' of fostering animals at home. He's one of several SPCA staff who are going the extra mile to help needy animals during the time of COVID-19.
Dr Chow: As a veterinarian, I try to foster animals who need more complicated care (swipe for pics). We do not have overnight staff so sometimes we’re not comfortable leaving them alone in the clinic.
In the shelter, one staf...

ACUPUNCTURE FOR CATS
Did you know that acupuncture is used to treat animals too? It may seem scary but the process is painless and can even be relaxing.
Theo and Pudding both came into SPCA suffering from pelvic injuries. Theo has issues defecating and is required to regularly ingest stool softeners, gut stimulants, and other medication to pass motion. Pudding, on the other hand, has urinary incontinence.
Thankfully, the acupuncture treatments improved their conditions, and after some rest,...

Have you ever encountered a pregnant cat, or one that just gave birth?🐱Or wish to care for kittens but aren't sure what to do? HAPPY TALES: NERF ADOPTED BY YVETTE & DOMINIK
We went to SPCA Singapore with the intention of adopting a hamster… however, the sight of Nirvana (now called Nerf) was too heart-wrenching to ignore. We were heartbroken when we saw him. He was really thin, had a wonky left ear, inflamed eyes, and was exhausted from street life. We adopted him in October 2013. We then relocated to the USA, and adopted his little brother Hankie from a local shelter. They've been best buddies ever since.
Although ...

CAT’S X-RAY SHOWED INTESTINES IN HER BACK. WHAT??
This female community cat was rescued and brought to SPCA by a kind member of the public. She had been suffering from an abdominal hernia due to a traumatic accident.
The impact was so severe that it caused a rupture in her abdomen. Her small and large intestines broke through THREE abdominal muscle layers on her right side. Yet, she remained remarkably strong — even with carrying her abdominal contents like a backpack as seen in the X-ray...

HAPPY TALES x MILA: ADOPTED BY THE RANSOMES
"We adopted Dark (now called Mila) from the SPCA in September 2019. She was placed for adoption with her sister and was a very popular choice with many potential adopters queuing up for her. She is sweet and loving, quite cheeky, and has captivating hazel eyes and a beautiful brown coat!
We realised early on that she needed help with managing her behaviour e.g. to not jump onto the nearest person for cuddles. With training classes, she is improvin...

2-HOUR TOOTH SURGERY + TIPS FOR OWNERS

🦷 Endodontic disease is often caused by bacterial infection or dental trauma. Trauma can be caused by accidental hits, chewing on hard items, or rough play. Pulpitis is the infla...

Brave Kitty Recovers After Amputation. This Newbor.. 15th Apr 2020, by SPCA Singapore
BRAVE KITTY RECOVERS AFTER AMPUTATION
This newborn kitten was rescued by SPCA when he was only 5 days old!
Did you know that a common complication for kittens after birth is the entanglement of their umbilical cord around one of their limbs?
That is exactly what happened to this little fella. Our clinic had to amputate the deformed, rotting leg on that same day to prevent bacteria from spreading to the rest of his body.
Young animals are not able to regulate their body temperature as well...
