On 21 September, the SPCA received a call about a cat kept in a cage on a first-floor balcony. A concerned passerby, who had suspected neglect, captured video evidence when a window was left open. Our Inspector headed down to the address provided and found an emaciated cat living in filthy conditions. The owner admitted to long working hours, leaving the cat uncared for. On 13 October 2024, a female poodle cross was found along the corridors of the 11th storey of Blk 134 Bedok North Street 2. The individual who reported this to the SPCA knocked on several doors to locate the dog’s owner, but no one came forward to claim her. The dog was subsequently brought to the SPCA.

On 5 September 2024 at around 2:30pm, a member of the public discovered two chinchillas in a tall metal cage abandoned at the void deck of Blk 643 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 5.
The chinchillas are now with the SPCA, and the case has been escalated to the authorities.
The SPCA does not have legal rights to retrieve the CCTV footage from nearby cameras.

Sum Sum used to stay in the bottom cabin near the back of the cat nursery at the SPCA. He wanted attention but was incredibly shy, always meowing pitifully when you walked past but hopping away to a corner on his three legs when you got closer.
