Adoption Spotlight Magic. Is It Finally My Turn To.. 14th Apr 2021, by SPCA Singapore
ADOPTION SPOTLIGHT: MAGIC 🔮
Is it finally my turn to go on Adoption Spotlight? About time! I am Magic. I was told I am SPCA’s favourite resident feline old man (old?! How rude!). I am only (almost) 11 years young!
Despite being a “senior”, I am in the pink of health. 😸 At times I stress-lick, but I will stop this bad habit with patience and care. I seek a family who will give me attention—in return, I will lavish you with all the purrs, headbutts, and rubs you need.
I was surren...

Puppy Training Webinar 8th Apr 2021, by SPCA Singapore
PUPPY TRAINING WEBINAR
Our puppy training webinar by Dr Chow (@dogtor.chow) is now up! Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zh-YelDo4mU
Some points raised:
#1 Think outside the food bowl! Instead of having your dog finish his meal in 5mins, and spending hours waiting for his next meal, try giving food through interactive activities.
#2 By 12 weeks of age, puppies should be socialised with children, strangers, dogs, and other animals.
#3 Don’t let puppies bite your clothes.
#4 P...

CAT’S HEARTBEAT ONCE STOPPED — NOW SHE’S UP FOR ADOPTION
Iman suffered a cardiac arrest right after a surgery on her paw was completed. When her heart stopped, we performed emergency resuscitation. Then, she started developing seizures.
In a final bid to save Iman, an SPCA staff took her home for fostering. She was provided with acupuncture, massages, syringe feeding, and more. After seven months of dedicated care, her recovery made her fosterer’s family cry! She might have a wobbly g...

Grogu Is I. But You Can Call Me Survivor. In Nov 2.. 17th Mar 2021, by SPCA Singapore
Grogu is I. But you can call me Survivor. 💪🏼In Nov 2020, I was ran over by a car, which left me with head trauma and a broken front leg. I became obtunded, weak, and had brain damage. 🧠
Under intensive foster care with a vet from SPCA’s Community Animal Clinic, I was nursed back to health. Although my broken leg had to be amputated, research has shown that >90% of tripod cats still have a great quality of life. I can run and play with my three legs! 🦵😸
My brain injuries have c...

Trainer Seen Kicking Dog. In A Recent Video, A Dog.. 11th Mar 2021, by SPCA Singapore
TRAINER SEEN KICKING DOG
In a recent video, a dog trainer in Singapore was seen kicking a Corgi while walking a group of dogs. The Corgi had started to walk faster than the pack, when she kicked the Corgi twice to jolt him/her back in line. The second kick was much harsher than the first. We have referred the case to the authorities for their follow up action.

Recovery After Tvt Transmissible Venereal Tumour. .. 8th Mar 2021, by SPCA Singapore
RECOVERY AFTER TVT (TRANSMISSIBLE VENEREAL TUMOUR)
Hi, I am Koropok! I was rescued under the nationwide TNRM (Trap-Neuter-Release-Manage) programme, and brought to SPCA’s Community Animal Clinic. The team discovered I had TVT, a disease that can be spread by touch (e.g. sniffing, mating). This condition is present in certain community dog populations in Singapore. Among the affected lot, approximately 10% of us will suffer from the tumour spreading malignantly — it could even take our lives...

World Wildlife Day Why Feed Community Animals But .. 6th Mar 2021, by SPCA Singapore
[WORLD WILDLIFE DAY] WHY FEED COMMUNITY ANIMALS BUT NOT WILDLIFE?
Some may have good intentions by wanting to feed wild animals. However, feeding wildlife causes numerous issues and negative consequences for the animals. For example, their population may increase resulting in complaints from the public, and leading to culling operations being carried out. Feeding also alters animal behaviour which will cause more human-wildlife conflict.
SPCA recently wrote a piece about this issue. Visit htt...

STARBURST, A SECOND CHANCE 🌠

Basic Dog Training Webinar. Our First Webinar Reco.. 23rd Feb 2021, by SPCA Singapore
BASIC DOG TRAINING WEBINAR
Our first webinar recording on basic dog training by trainer Angie Tan (@puppylove_sg).
Angie: “Make sure you’re not pulling against the dog, and not giving your dog a chance to pull you. Dogs have something called the opposition reflex. If you have any tension on the leash, the opposition reflex will kick in. The dog is not pulling you on purpose, you’re giving it no choice.”
“If your dog pulls, stop. Stand still, and your dog will release the tension. Re...
