We collaborated with the good folks over at Cat Welfare Society and for the month of June, we'll be helping to microchip the cats registered under "LOVE CATS". We've had the pleasure of meeting the first of many lovely and awesome cats under the pilot cat ownership project in Chong Pang, and will continue to meet (and microchip) many other cats for the rest of the month. Great work CWS! Here's to more happy collaborations for the good of our animal friends :)

More on the Silky Terrier we found near the coffeeshop at Blk 603 Clementi West Street 1... Our vet consultant had carefully removed the fur around her snout so she could better clean the area and reduce the chances of an infection. It was heartbreaking to see the extent of the injury inflicted on our little friend. We're treating her injuries the best we can, and she's recovering well despite everything she has gone through. We had found a microchip in her and had checked with the relevan...

The way you move and behave makes all the difference in putting a fearful animal at ease. - Let the animal decide whether or not to approach. Don’t restrain the animal and force it to accept contact. - When facing the animal, always turn to the side. Facing them directly comes off as confrontational. - It is perfectly fine to look at the animal, but make sure not to stare directly in its eyes. A direct stare is a threat in the animal kingdom (even we don’t like to be stared at!). -...

This heart-wrenching case is just one of many that we encounter at the SPCA. We do our best in pursuing those who commit such callous acts, and hope to put an end to such gross cases of neglect/abuse. This female Silky Terrier, around 3-5 years old, was found this morning at about 9am by a member of the public at the coffee shop of Blk 603, Clementi West St 1. She was found roaming around and had wounds on her muzzle area (which may have been caused by objects such as a rope or multiple rubbe...

Another child touches our heart with her generous act. Ashley asked for a donation tin to be placed at her birthday party because she wanted to raise funds for the animals. Instead of asking for birthday presents, she asked her friends to come with donations for the animals instead. Her parents supported her wholeheartedly by helping her spread the word to family and friends. Even her grandparents who were overseas were involved in spreading the message! Thank you dear Ashley. Children li...

We often receive calls informing us of pet owners leaving their pets in their cars while they're off running errands. Contrary to popular belief, it is not okay to leave your pet in the car, even if it's for a short while, and even if the window is slightly rolled down. The temperature inside a stationary car can soar in just minutes, and increases exponentially as compared to the temperature outside the car. With their much smaller bodies, animals can sustain brain damage or even die from he...

We refer to the video and images that have been circulating on the web involving the trapping of a stray dog in Bukit Batok. Our inspectors were informed of the case and arrived on the scene along with the police and AVA. The case is now undergoing further investigation by the AVA and the police. While investigations are ongoing, we wish to reiterate that the method used to capture the dog is not acceptable. Wire lassos and slip knots that tighten when the animal pulls are extremely inhumane an...

Wednesday's Adoption Spotlight: Viking Age: 1 year 10 months Breed : Cross Breed Viking is a fine lad with his boyish charms and playfulness.
