Canine Education, un-leashed at the SPCA!
We relish the opportunity to have been able to share with our audience the joys and meaning of welcoming a dog into the home, as another fulfilling session of Canine Education @ SPCA Singapore (held on Saturday 17 May 2014) saw Nee Kang, from cheerfuldogs.com, coach and regale us all on the finer points of settling our dog as our new member of the family.
We are very grateful to Nee and those who attended, and are confident that these talks would go ...

Bamboo, now Zoe, finds love at last!
Bamboo, our 1-year-wise local cat, was adopted from our shelter barely a week ago, cosying up to the real comforts of a loving home.

ADOPTION SPOTLIGHT: SWEETS, A REAL TREAT!
Sweets is a highly independent feline who is pretty and ornamental as befitting her simple, yet sweet, basic black-white colour scheme.
2-year-wise Sweets has come a long way since September 2012 when she was rescued and found with bite wounds and some pus from her eyes.
Especially if you’re looking for a local cat with a quirky personality, Sweets could be just about right! Not only would she be easy on the eye for the more discerning cat-lover...

SPCA rescues a cat in distress
Our Animal Support Officers received a call on the very morning of Vesak Day, about a cat spotted to be stuck in a canal that links City Plaza with Grandlink Square, at a part of the Geylang River.
Our rescue team was quickly despatched to the scene, and found a hapless cat trapped in the 4-inch-deep waters of the canal. The black feline, of a local breed, has been trying to leap out of the canal for the past hour or so, but to no avail. The high walls of the c...

We would like to share a touching story from The Dodo online:-
In Japan, a cat that went missing, in the 2011 Japan tsunami, reunites with its owner 3 years later….
When the 12-year-old cat, Suika, was nowhere to be seen, in the aftermath of the 2011 tsunami, it was presumed to be lost forever.
Lo and behold, just last month, the Yamagishi family finally got news they never thought they’d hear – that the cat is actually still well, and was taken to an animal shelter in their neighbou...

SPCA to the rescue!
Our Animal Support Officers received a call on the morning of Labour Day, about a pair of pigeons being seen to be stuck to the rooftop fencing of a block of flats at Circuit Road.
Our Junior Inspectors arrived at the scene to find the 2 pigeons both entangled, in what seemed to be a kite string, and being hung upside down as a result. After cutting away the string restricting the pigeons from their freedom of flight, the pigeons were then brought back to SPCA for a vet ch...

Hippo, Happily Ever After!
(14 years on, and going strong!)
Hello, my human friends! My name is Hippo!
I was adopted from SPCA Singapore’s shelter, about 14 years ago, in September 2000.
My name was originally “Toto”, but my new owners thought that to be a silly name, so they changed it to “Hippo”! As you can probably work out from the adoption date I am getting on a bit. While my health is good, I am now a little slower than I used to be, though not slow enough that I don’t cha...

Our companion animals can ease loneliness, reduce stress, promote social interaction, encourage exercise and playfulness, and provide unconditional love and affection.
Caring for a pet may even help you live longer, according to many recent studies exploring the benefits of the human-animal bond. The American Heart A...
