Earlier this year, a kitten was rescued by a kind member of the public who had heard its meows of distress coming from within the aforementioned rubbish bin. The finder, with her friend’s help, spotted the kitten at the bottom of a pile of rubbish, tied in a plastic bag and soaked in what appears to be its own urine.
She brought it home, had it cleaned u...

Dog Bite Prevention Tip #2 (a fortnightly feature by SPCA)

“Cats R Purr-fect” as our companions!
We held two “Cats R Purrfect” workshops over the past two afternoons for our youth supporters. They learnt what it takes to be a great cat owner through the talks and activities, and also got to interact with the cats in our shelter (the fun, hands-on part!).
On an educational note, healthy cats tend to keep themselves clean from head to toe, and we could be taking a cue from them in all things self-grooming and physical cleanliness! Hygiene freak...

POOR, PERPLEXED PUPPY!
Our Animal Support Officers received a call on Vesak Day about a dog trapped within a canal at Tampines Industrial Ave 1.
Our rescue team arrived at the scene to find a mongrel puppy stranded in the canal, looking distressed. The puppy was unfortunately stifled in its attempts to leap out of its misery. In a rush against time, our rescue officers succeeded in hauling it above the high walls of the canal, applying the right combination of skill, strategy and, well, a cat...

Dog abandoned at SPCA gate just yesterday (28 May) has been…..

Whilst the dog has been returned to its owner, that does not take away the fact that it has been abandoned. In Singapore, under the Animals and Birds Act, anyone found guilty, of aband...
