Photos Of NDPeeps 4th Aug 2014, by SPCA Singapore
We are sharing, with all here, our letter and note to the National Day Parade (NDP) 2014's Organising Committee and pertinent parties responsible for the production and publication of the NDP 2014 Discount Booklet (or "Fun Pack").
We have expressed our concerns over the message that the sale of puppies, and under a "0% interest instalment plan" as stipulated in the advertisement, would convey. We also thank our many facebook followers and commenters for having alerted us to this, and for havin...

Dog Bite Prevention Tip #6 (a fortnightly feature by SPCA)
- AVOID PETTING YOUR DOG ON ITS HEAD, REPEATEDLY!
In this photo, the child pets the dog on its head and the dog is clearly uncomfortable. It avoids looking at the child, its mouth is closed, its ears are pinned back and its body is stiff. Most dogs do not like being petted repeatedly on the head.
Be polite to a dog. Learn to read its body language and stop your children from petting a dog on its head, especially one that’s unfamilia...

Cop Forces Man To Abandon His Elderly Blind Dog By The Road To Die 3rd Aug 2014, by SPCA Singapore
We would like to share how, in mid-July 2014, in Houston in the U.S., a police officer actually forced a man to abandon his elderly, BLIND dog, on the side of the road. Not surprisingly, of course, the dog, a 14-year-old Chihuahua that suffered from cataracts, had become hit by traffic and killed.
On that fateful day, the owner of the dog had to be stopped by the police officer, while driving (with the owner’s friend and the Chihuahua in it). The man failed to use a turn signal while driving...

Happy Ending For Senior Dog Who Walked 30 Miles Home Only To Be Turned Away 2nd Aug 2014, by SPCA Singapore
We are sharing here a heartbreaking tale of a Senior Dog (a sweet black Labrador named “Ma Kettle”) in the U.S., who walked back 30 MILES to the family that gave her up, only to get rejected again!
This dog’s first, elderly owner passed away in 2012, and was taken to an animal shelter in Kansas. Then, an adopting family took an interest in her, and took her home. However the dog’s joy is short-lived. This is because that family acquired a few puppies and found the dog not favourable to ...

Here's a pic of the legendary Sean Connery with a cat, on the set of 1962's "Dr. No".
Perhaps a less known fact about Connery is that he's a cat lover. Just like Michael Jackson, Nicolas Cage, Marlon Brando, Christopher Walken, George Clooney, Steve Martin and many other legendary MALE stars. As well as James Franco, Ian Somerhalder and Jesse Eisenberg, among current male celebs. (Just when you might've thought it's only the gals like Taylor Swift and Miley Cyrus who are the cat-loving celebs ...

Yet another community cat’s life, from the Beach Road vicinity, has been taken. The latest feline victim, known to be a friendly, chubby cat, was found dead on the grass patch in front of the North Bridge Road power substation, last Saturday (26 July).
The cat feeders and caretakers from Beach Road, along with Cat Welfare Society (CWS) and SPCA, are urgently appealing for witnesses whom may identify the culprit(s) responsible for the necessary action to be taken against.
SPCA wishes to add...

People Foods To Avoid Feeding Your Pets 30th Jul 2014, by SPCA Singapore
There's a reason, or two, why pet foods are in a class by themselves, and that should stay that way. The temptation to even 'spoil' our own pets with the foods we consume is often there. But, pet owners, that lactose-rich milk, that you're about to pamper your pet with, might just bring forth that unwanted diarrhoea - and trip to the vet clinic!
(Many dogs and cats, after all, tend to be lactose-intolerant.)

Timeline Photos 29th Jul 2014, by SPCA Singapore
Today, the 29th July, is actually INTERNATIONAL TIGER DAY! Many a time, visitors - in lapping up zoos (that exhibit tigers) as tourist attractions - fail to realize that they are actually contributing to the exploitation, illegal trade and abuse of tigers!
We have lost 97% of all wild tigers in a little over 100 years! Moreover, only 3,200 live in the wild today! We urge all to do their part as RESPONSIBLE, ETHICAL tourists by NOT supporting such attractions, and by not endorsing tiger tourism...

A hare-raising event, indeed, featuring Kent, our very own, white rabbit!
Our "Bunny Care Workshop", held just last Saturday (27 July, 2014), equipped our SPCA volunteers with the finer points of handling, feeding, grooming and caring for rabbits.
Our thanks go out to our volunteers from the House Rabbit of Singapore Society (HRSS) who lent their time, expertise and finesse to this session, guiding and mentoring those who attended.
We would be starting a "Bunny Play Time" soon, too, so do...

Held at The Hill Lodge (27 Mount Vernon Road), it was specially conducted by the volunteers from the House Rabbit Society of Singapore (HRSS). We thank the HRSS, and all who attended, and hope to mount similar sessions for our members and supporters too, along the way.

The past 2 days, over the latest weekend prior to Hari Raya Puasa, have seen A DOZEN (12!) furry cuties migrate from our shelter to their new, loving, forever homes....
We've managed to photo-capture only about half of that total number (i.e. 6 only) animals with their new owners, in the most recent posts here. So, in summary, here are all 12 animals, whisked away to their new homes and Happy-Ever-Afters (along with shout-outs to their new owners!):-
(1) BRUNO, 10-year-wise(!!) Local Cat - ado...
