Cat just rescued from the ledge, of the top floor of an HDB block in Ang Mo Kio Earlier tonight (Sep 18, 2014), we were alerted to a cat seen perched on the 12th floor ledge of a residential block in Ang Mo Kio Ave 10. The cat was suspected to be distressed, as related to us by our informers. Our rescue officer was quickly despatched to the scene, and found the local grey-black feline, nestled on that narrow ledge reportedly for some time already. The cat indeed appeared distressed, and care ...

Cat rescued from a tree, somewhere in Hougang Earlier today (Sep 17, 2014), we were alerted to a tabby seen perched on the branches of a tree there. (A ladder was readied too which then turned out redundant for this mission.) Applying some strategy and well-timed movements, they succeeded in hauling the cat to safe...

Dog Bite Prevention (Final Tip, #8) - AVOID TEASING A DOG! In this photo, the human is putting both dogs at risk by teasing them. Both dogs are highly stressed – note the exaggerated lip licking, whale eyes (in the dog on the left), while the dog on the right has turned its head away. No matter what the occasion might be, one should never tease a dog. Be polite to a dog. Learn to read its body language and take steps to help your dog be comfortable in everyday situations, through force-fr...

Love is Ageless, with Loving Stories, Loving Pets! Cyndi Ng would like to share this with us all, about her senior dog, Bubbles.... "Cyndi's Loving Story, Loving Pet: - My pet is 11 years old. I’m being loved for giving her cuddles, toys and an endless supply of food. She is a feisty little girl. She is a little crazy at times, and enjoys her hide and seek. Perhaps your “eating machine” leaves kibble in the bottom of the food bowl. Maybe he’s stopped greeting you at the front door or no longer follows y...

Love is Ageless, and our Executive Director Corinne Fong shares with readers of "pets" magazine (in the current, Aug/Sep 2014 issue) how owners of SENIOR PETS can better ensure they are given the best care possible. Older companion animals may also better suit working adults and people who are retired or semi-retired. First-time pet owners who may have little or no experience with puppies/kittens/much younger animals may also be better off with a mature companion animal. (Senior animals are ge...

My Cat Tends To Scratch My Furniture. What Can I Do? Cats, being cats, might just scratch furniture, in order to keep their claws in shape, and not consciously intending to destroy household objects. At the same time, they are actually leaving a trace of their scent through their paws. De-clawing the cat is not the solution as it renders the cat defenceless and is most cruel. SPCA is against this inhumane method. (Nearly two dozen countries — including Australia, England, and Japan — ban ...
