A Prisoner Of Love.. For Eight Years 1st Apr 2016, by Noah's Ark CARES
April is the exact same month but it was many years ago - in 2007. At
a HDB carpark in Aljunied, a medium-sized white and tan mixed breed dog stood
there, tied to a lamppost. He must have been standing there for a few hours
with neither food nor water, seemingly waiting for his owner. Many cars and people
passed by, but nobody came forward to find out why the dog was there. At about 10pm, a
white van drove up and a man emerged from the van. He untied the dog from the
lamppost and trie...

Jurong Industrial Dogs 15th Mar 2016, by Noah's Ark CARES
We recently had a few batches of dogs being sent to our sanctuary NANAS – as a very last resort. We do anticipate more to come along as we face the closure of factories in industrial estates especially within recent years. Given our huge population over at the sanctuary with 600 plus dogs alone and many other types of residents (cats, rabbits, horses, monkeys, snakes and even a wild boar), we had to turn away quite a few other cases especially those of owned pets. We try to do what w...

Leia - Yet Another Case Of TVT 20th Feb 2016, by Noah's Ark CARES
Before
reading further, please be advised that there are rather disturbing pictures
below. Please do not continue if you feel uncomfortable viewing such photos.
Thank you!
We do not know if you can call this a pure coincidence,
but around the same period as when our Malaysian volunteers got hold of this
dog suffering from canine Transmissible Venereal Tumor (TVT) [https://www.facebook.com/raymund.wee/posts/102083 37626221805],
we got hold of another dog locally with the exact same condition ...

Sterilization Is Key To Reduce Self-Propagation Of Street Animals 15th Jan 2016, by Noah's Ark CARES
Noah’s Ark CARES volunteers responded to a call in November 2015 to sterilize a large number of cats and rehome a couple of kittens at a construction site at Yio Chu Kang Road. This is the only humane way to control their population amidst the harsh conditions of the construction site.
Madeline, one of Noah’s Ark CARES volunteers was alerted on the above situation by a caregiver in the area. The team quickly arranged a date to do a site check together ...

Bobby And His Tumor.. 7th Dec 2015, by Noah's Ark CARES
“Bobby” – does this name ring a bell? Did you ever buy a
cute little Jack Russell Terrier (JRT) puppy from a pet shop in north-eastern Singapore many
years back, and had the word “dog offer” and “no return” scribbled on your receipt?
The little one whom you once loved had his birthday on Valentine’s Day (14th February) and who went home with you when he was slightly over three months old? Even though this little life was only a monetary transaction...

Noah's Ark Rescue
Please help us to help them
Dear Friends of Noah's Ark
We had an influx of animals that needed our help in the last couple of weeks and our volunteers could barely cope. Practically, we do know that we cannot save every single dog on the street, but if you happened to see a dog in front of you that is unwell - are you able able to walk away? We could not do it.
Whether it was a major or a minor injury, one more...

Rescue After Rescue (5/5): Teddy 21st Jul 2015, by Noah's Ark CARES
We frequently work with independent caregivers to spay
their charges and render needed medical aid, with majority of their charges
being street dogs. On this fateful afternoon, we got a call from one of our
dedicated caregivers that she had with her a cat with a broken leg. The worker
from a factory approached her for help and she kind-heartedly took over the
cat. She has been caring for and sterilizing the street dogs in her area for over a
decade but is honestly helpless when it comes to cat...

Rescue After Rescue (4/5): Thumper 18th Jul 2015, by Noah's Ark CARES
“Thumper” is a fictional rabbit character from one of Disney’s cartoons Bambi. We have our very own canine version Thumper too, and he is named so because of the resemblance of his ears with the rabbit!Thumper is an innocent young puppy who greets everyone with wags of his thin long tail. He can be carried, manhandled in any way and not even resist. How can such a sweet boy survive being a stray? But every stray caregiver will have such dogs and we only have endless worry for t...

Rescue After Rescue (3/5): Ricky And His Neighbour Rain 15th Jul 2015, by Noah's Ark CARES
RickyRicky has a very unique look among so many street dogs we
meet – he has a scruffy body which makes him look lion-like. Apart from this,
he is friendly even to strangers. When we met him for the first time, we could
already pat him. Thereafter, he will always be waiting for us during our
routine feeding and happily greet us with a swaying butt. Ricky was also one of
the lucky few whose factory actually bothered to care for and look after him
and tend to his day to day needs. We did a...

Rescue After Rescue (2/5): Di Di 12th Jul 2015, by Noah's Ark CARES
Affectionately named Di Di by one of our volunteers P who
has been caring for him, the origin of Di Di and siblings are unknown but the
factory told P they took pity on them and took them from another industrial estate
to put in their factory to care for them. Nonetheless, the conditions they stayed
in were less than satisfactory though they had the basic needs like food and
shelter. Some factories deem this kind of environment adequate as they are
street dogs after all and they are known to b...
