We, the management and staff, not forgetting our residents; dogs and cats, appreciate the thoughts you all have for us.
Woof! Woof! Meow! Meow!

Can Too Much Sun be Harmful to Dogs?
Humans get Vitamin D by being in the sun. The sun’s rays break down oil in our skin to create Vitamin D. It is then absorbed back into the skin and enters the blood stream.
Dogs have the same oil on their skin. Laying in the sun converts that oil to Vitamin D for dogs, as well. Unlike humans, however, Vitamin D isn’t absorbed back into your dog’s skin due to all his fur. When dogs lick their fur after sunbathing, they are ingesting their Vitamin D.

Regular grooming is good for your pet's coat, skin, and bond with you. Brushing your dog might seem like a big chore, especially when life gets hectic. Routine brushing enhances your dog's appearance by distributing natural oils throughout the entire coat.
If your dog is dirty bathe your dog first, using a shampoo made for pets. Once the fur is dry, brush out any snags or mats. Use clippers in the direction of hair growth in long smooth strokes. Use scissors for touch-up and for trimming around...

Dog & Puppy Training
Having a puppy is a great experience but it can also be overwhelming, you want to make sure your dog knows who’s in charge.
Having a trained dog is not the same. If your dog knows a few basic commands, it can be helpful when tackling problem behaviors — existing ones or those that may develop in the future.
Where do you start with dog obedience training? You can do it by yourself. It can be fun for both of you and your dog. Or you could enroll your dog for classes if ...

Eversince the rabies outbreak in July, dumping of puppies is prevalent. We receive an average of 1-2 puppies a day.
Today, the puppies were placed near the drainage, luckily it wasnt heavy downpour. We pray that people would just stop doing this 'old skool' tactic and start to be responsible pet owner.
DESEX thy pets, and rehome these puppies - these are responsibilities of pet owners.

Walk the Shelter Dogs (WSD) Program
We managed to hold our first WSD yesterday with 7 volunteers. We roped in one of the dogs trainers, Mr Andy Lo, to give some tips on walking our shelter dogs.
If you can’t have a dog at present, or would just like to help a rescue dog, you can join our dog walking programme.
Taking a dog for a much-loved walk away from the kennel environment, is not only about giving our dogs a physical workout; but also great for their mental stimulation. In addition a ...

# BRING US HOME #
Do you know that most dogs and cats do not have a home due to no fault of their own? Our dogs and cats are full of lovable, active and healthy, just waiting for someone to take them home.
By taking home a dog/cat adopted from our animal shelter, not only are you saving that pet, you're either making room in the rescue so they can save another pet, or making room at the shelter itself.
As you can see, dog/cat adoption is truly a continuous cycle of saving lives, and it's th...

Why are they born in the first place?
Why are we breeding these puppies and yet we chose to dump them on the street to fend by themselves?
If these puppies were intelligent enough, they would have known how to cross our busy streets.
If these puppies were clever enough, they would hide from our councils' dog catchers, escaping from being culled and euthanasia.
But, they arent smart enough! They thought everyone is willing to give them second chance - a loving home to stay.
Please stop br...

Do you talk to your dog? All the time? It just not the simple commands such as 'sit' and 'stay' but rather talking to your dog, you know, as if your dog were a person.
Dogs understand what some human words mean, according to a study in Hungary, published in the prestigious journal 'Science'.
They discovered that dogs’ brains process language in a similar way to humans, with the right side dealing with emotion and the left processing meaning.
It was only when both sides of the brain agreed...
