ANNUAL BOOSTER ANTI-RABIES VACCINATION, SERIAN 2018
Department of Veterinary Sarawak has been working hard by going around Serian to vaccinate the dogs since 16th of July 2018 for annual booster, to create an immunity belt. Vaccinations at Serian are being done on weekdays at most of the villages, and awareness programmes are also held concurrently. The schedule below indicates the vaccination programmes at Serian area. This dog was found at the shoplots across our animal shelter. An irresponsible citizen had just abandoned the dog.
We discovered that the dog suffered rabies symptoms, and decided to trap it. The dog was humanely put down by our vet, and to send it for laboratory test.
A life, or more, could have been lost, had we not discover it earlier. You, as an irresponsible pet owner, would have murdered the whole community at 7th Mile Bazaar, just because of your ignorance on vaccinating your pet.

Have we not learnt?
People are still abandoning their pet dogs/puppies on the street. Worse of all, someone just chase their own dog out. If you suspect that your pet is a rabid dog, please call Bilik Gerakan JPVS at 082-612949 / 611607.
Don't just dump them on the street! DON'T RISK the lives of another human and animal! Be a responsible pet owner.

Rabies infection is caused by the rabies virus. The virus is spread through the saliva of infected animals. Infected animals can spread the virus by BITING another animal or a person.
Rabies can also be spread when infected saliva gets into an OPEN WOUND or the MUCOUS MEMBRANES, such as the mouth or eyes. This was the case for the 13th victim, a 44year old man.

Joey (not her real name) adopted a puppy from street 4 years ago. A lovely white pup, she named him 'Xiao Bai'. Xiao Bai was given plenty of love during his puppy stage, core vaccinations were provided.

Identity: Barbie has light brown fur with a scar on her lips. Goldie has dark brown fur (slightly shorter than Barbie) with a wart on one of her legs. Both dogs are friendly, and Barbie is always a leader.

Mass cremation with other carcasses:
Puppy/Cat/Kitten RM50
Dog (< 30kg) RM100
Dog (>30kg) RM150
For private cremation RM450 (single burn for dog or cat).
- there is NO ceremony service to be held at shelter.
- to collect ashes back in 3 days time.
- owner to provide urn.
For cremation services, kindly send the carcass to our shelter at the gate near Payueeh as per photo.
