TIPS TO KEEP YOUR PET SAVE THIS GAWAI HOLIDAY | Gawai is a festive time for us and our pets. However, due to ongoing distractions we can easily overlook potential dangers to our pets.
1. FIREWORKS. Keep them in the house and leave the TV on to keep a normal environment. Make sure they have a comfy place to hide and feel safe.

SAY NO TO BACKYARD BREEDERS
Adult animals are kept in confined spaces, continuously bred until they can no longer produce, then destroyed or discarded.
HOW CAN I HELP?
1. Ask many questions. A reputable breeder will show you where the dogs spend their time and introduces you to the puppy's parents.
2. Adopt your pet from SSPCA. We have over 300 homeless animal in need of a family and lots of love! Show your support by giving them a second chance.

TIPS TO HELP YOUR CAT & DOG TO GET ALONG:
●Praise your dog for friendly behavior around the cat.
●Provide an escape route for the Cat- Someplace he/she can get out of reach of your Dog & be safe. Eg. Put a basket on the top of the cupboard for the cat.
●Rub a towel on your Dog and put it under your Cat's bowl so he/can get accustomed to your Dog's smell.

WHY DO CATS KNEAD?
If your cat is curled up and kneading your lap while you’re petting him, he’s returning the affection and telling you he loves you right back. Unfortunately, this can be quite painful, since the happier he is, the harder he’ll dig in with his sharp nails. Try placing a thick, soft barrier between the cat and your lap, or gently place him on his back and pet his belly if it gets too intense.
