Neutering/Spaying Session 2

Few days ago, Dr. Lim and Dr Puspa of SPCA Selangor came to our shelter in Hulu Langat and helped to neuter/spay 13 dogs and 1 cat. It took them whole morning to perform the surgery.
Out of the 13 dogs, 7 belong to SCAS. 2 dogs were stray that we caught along the way to the shelter, 6 dogs belong to Kim Ho who is a rescuer. While the female cat belongs to a volunteer.

Neutering/Spaying Session 1

On 6th December, we sent our sheltered dogs to SPCA Selangor to be spayed/castrated. A total of 11 dogs (6 females and 5 males) have been desexed. Thanks to Dr. Lim and Dr. Puspa who performed the surgery. We were paying RM150 for females and RM120 for males, total charge came up to RM1500.
We also scheduled another mass neutering on 10 more dogs and 4 cats, some of them are strays from Hulu Langat. It was done on 11th December at our shelter (photos to follow in next blog post).

Goodbye ...Big Black

One of our long staying dogs in shelter - Big Black was not doing well due to severe kidney failure. We were advised to let him go to set him free from suffering. It was definitely a tough decision but we couldn't bear to see him suffer longer...May you rest in peace Big Black. We will miss you, yes we will. Run free now towards Rainbow Bridge where we believe all furkids find eternal joy, health and love.

Some Latest Photos Of Hero

Hero was abandoned at a bus stop when he was just 4 days old and was taken care of by one of our volunteers. He was adopted in May 2011. However, his adopter now has a posting overseas for 5 years and nobody is able to take care of Hero. Hence, Hero is now back at the shelter. His adopter, Ivan is now sponsoring his monthly food expenses.

Updates On Karina

After one week of treatment at the clinic, Karina's stomach has shrunk in size. Now she is being fostered and still needs daily jabs.
Having said that, she is much "lighter" now and can move with ease rather than carrying a heavy body around. Her appetite is very good and enjoys chicken rice very much.
She has also been given the second jab for mange (skin problem).

Updates On Karina

Karina's heart scan result shows righted weak heart which causes bloated stomach (on top of the low protein factor).
Three days in the cage at the vet's depressed her a bit.......
On Saturday (18th Oct), Karina vomited half an hour after her medication, and the fluid that was drawn out had some blood, the vet managed to draw out 30ml of the fluid and continued to do so on Sunday

Karina was rescued on 12th October (though this posting is a bit late, we still wish to tell her story)
Few of us volunteers were on our way to the shelter, we saw this dog, almost furless (scabies condition), standing at the edge of a bridge , staring down for a long time into a river, we reckon she must be thirsty and could not figure out how to drink the river water.
