Very happy/smiley, friendly and affectionate with visitors who are "my friends". I have yet to test out my theory but it seems like she may actually be a good guard dog. When she heard my mom opening the gate, she barked loudly at her until she saw it was her. Very good with kids (lets them pet her) when she is out on her walks.
Doesn't poop in my garden (I can't seem to find her poop :/). I bring her out for evening walks and that's when she does it. During her walks, she focuses on socializing with other dogs and finding bone scraps (haha). I feed her both kibbles and meat with fruits or vegetables; I find that she doesn't eat a lot. She likes to bury some of her bones in my garden. Recognises my car and waits at the gate to greet me (awww!) with affectionate but gentle jumps on my body. She doesn't need you to walk her multiple times a day but I try walking her for at least an hour in the evenings - she can break off at a pace where I need to brisk walk/run (because I let her) but she is fine with a stroll if you aren't an active person. Just hold her firmly at the length you desire.
Initially barked at my foster kitten but after a few weeks of "getting to know each other" through the glass pane, both seemed open to getting to know each other better. Won't be able to test out this theory as my foster kitten has been adopted. She's very sweet. She likes to accompany me when I cook soup at the back kitchen. She doesn't jump on the counter or disturb me. She just finds a nice spot to lie nearby to accompany me.
Things to note:
Has gone for her first vaccination and deworming. She is in heat now and cannot be spayed yet. She has a few bald patches - trying to figure out if it's fur mites (the vet has given her Nexgard for this), fungus or if the shampoo I used was too strong. :( Taking multivitamins and salmon oil daily. Has taken Heartgard for February. Will bring her for grooming when her fur problem is settled.
Story: I was out to meet with D who had posted on MIAR about another dog out in the streets. My husband and I went out to get that dog and see how we could help but it turns out he had a pregnant girlfriend (haha). That and he was already happily part of a street gang. He'd shaken off the collar we'd put on him somehow. While D and I were contemplating what to do next, this very friendly black dog (whom I had petted earlier) came up to us for a pet and some food (more for the pets). We brought her home, deflead her and gave her a bath. End of story.
Looking for an owner with the following:
- owns landed property (not rented)
- will NOT cage her. She's used to having my garden and porch to roam.
- has experience taking care of dogs (being responsible for dogs and growing up with them are two different things!)
- will train her using rewards and praise, not punishment. The good thing is she is very eager to please if you show her kindness.
A RM250.00 deposit is required in exchange for a video of her settled in her new home after a month/receipt of her being spayed (if she is adopted before I get to spay her). The deposit will be returned after receiving the video/receipt. Questions will be asked to ensure you're a good fit for each other. Viewings are available for serious adopters.
