**UPDATE 24 JUNE 2022: Zura & Kalu have been adopted by a family running a palm farm. They are together, have a loving owner, all the space they need to run around and play, and a purpose in their life which is protecting the farm**

My wife and I rescued two beautiful pups that were found in a cardboard box alongside a highway in KL. They were both found by PAWS. Initially, we adopted only Zura, and we were not aware that she had a sister as well from the same litter (Kali).

A month or so later, PAWS called us saying that Kali (the sister) was up for adoption as well now, because the owner died in an unfortunate car accident. We didn't plan on having two dogs, but decided to try reuniting the sisters. They reconnected almost immediately and their bond has grown strong as sisters. Needless to say, we decided to also adopt Kali.

Zura is the beautiful, graceful, and wiser "older" sister. She is the alpha of the two, and is more confident and curious. She loves playing with other dogs, but may warm up to them by being submissive. She's very food motivated and responds well to training. She is quite the athlete - loves swimming, jumping, climbing (she can even climb trees, especially if there's a treat!) and hunting. Zura is also very loving, if we're feeling down or having a tough day, Zura tends to pick up on that and comes and sits beside us. She has motherly qualities - protective over Kali and us, but nurturing and sweet as she gives a lot of kisses, even to other dogs.

Kali is the cute, adventurous, and wild "younger" sister. She is more timid and shy with other dogs so she tends to be more submissive or defensive. She enjoys playing with other dogs, but she's still looking up to her older sister to learn how to bit by bit. She has booked incredible progress for the past months and has grown more confident with other dogs. She is the more vocal dog, and sometimes tries to "talk" to you with howls and whines. When she plays with Zura, she likes to growl but it's never aggressive. She is very gentle and LOVES belly rubs. She likes to explore, climb hills, sprint, stick her head out the car window, and catch bugs (she's caught quite a few flies and mosquitoes around the house!). She is very toy motivated, and when training, she tends to follow Zura so it was quite easy and quick for her to pick it up.

Zura and Kali are incredible dogs. We have found a home for both of them before, with a lady in Hulu Langat who said she could take care of them. However, now that we have already left the country, the new family is telling us they can no longer they care of them, and that in fact they are not being taken care of properly, but are left with a relative who does not take them to the vet when needed to treat their wounds, doesn't give them the proper care they need. We are very worried about their health and wellbeing. We love them dearly and it breaks our heart to hear this.

They used to be very obedient dogs who are crate trained, potty trained, good recall and know a wide number of other commands. Of course, growing into teenagers now, they sometimes rebel a little bit to test the boundaries, but overall they are easy to manage. They don't and have never chewed on slippers, furniture, pillow, clothes, etc. They know to play with their toys or sticks they find outdoors. They have now spend a couple of months with the new owner in the jungle, and we don't know whether their behavior has deteriorated.

They are generally quiet and chilled at home, but they're very sharp (especially with Zura's big ears!) so they make good guard dogs. When I'm travelling for work, they make my wife feel very safe. We're often complimented by how well the two of them follow us around on walks like guardians looking out for the pack.

They spend all of their time together, and we'd hate to see them being separated. Ideally we would find them a new loving owner who can adopt both of them, so they are not separated, which we think will be a very painful experience for them.

We are looking for an owner who can give Zura and Kali a loving home with enough space to go around, and daily walks. Currently they are staying in Hulu Langat.

Kali and Zura were both spayed when they were 1 year old. They have received all their vaccinations.

We hope to talk to you soon!

Hi why you don't organise a fundraise to take your dogs in Germany or...(?) I agree that for some expats the fees are expensive. But it's more difficult to find family there ready to adopt 2 dogs and especially give them the good conditions of life (no chain, no cage).
Just an idea...hope you will find a solution. They seem so nice.

Hi Yoshi, thanks for the suggestion. The cost of transportation is not an issue, there are other factors. We're doing our best to find them a new loving home, if you know anyone please let us know.

Yoshi is correct....in Malaysia really not many adopter treat pets dog as their family.. typical looking at your house set up..my friend has contacted some pet expat service cost around 1000Rm.. if not really have to look very hard and not easy to adopt 2.. don't be surprised I got adopter feed "pedigree" eventhough he drive Audi sport car..and chain the puppy I hand over to them.

It will take so much time to land them with good open mind family..

😥sorry to pollute your post for Zura and Kali but I totally agree with Moody. Cats and dogs sometimes are too neglected. I think Malaysia should engage new laws on restrictions of breeding, importation of animals, conditions, etc like Turkey, Europe...
Up for Zura and Kali 2 beautiful dogs🙏

Hi there. Have you found a home for your 2 dogs? We hv a large house and garden in a very natural area (with lots of wild life) and would consider adopting if they are neutered. No other pet currently other than a bunch of crazy kois!

Hi Alan, too bad you didn't respond to us anymore and no longer want to proceed with adoption. I'm just leaving a comment here to let people know that Zura and Kali are still looking for a new home.
