🐈 Give this orphaned kitty a new home! 🐈

Katy's catdad sadly passed away earlier this year. Not only has this been a traumatising experience for her, she's been alone since then 😿 as there is no next-of-kin in Malaysia.

I am working to help get Katy adopted into a new and loving home. In addition to the basics of feeding and cleaning, this also means getting her comfortable with new hoomins that appeared out of nowhere 🀣 and hopefully eventually rehome her to a potential cat parent. Don't forget - her beloved person of many, many years passed away, so it will be a journey to earn her trust.

Still with me so far? Great! Let's get to know Katy.

❀️ 10 years old
❀️ Female
❀️ Spayed
❀️ Independent, will noms all the chimkens

I've just taken Katy to the vet to get vaccinated, and she also tested positive for FIV. Please don't let this deter you from considering being a cat parent to Katy. In fact, I have one FIV+ cat at home living with my FIV- 10-year-old cat.

FIV+ cats can live a normal, wonderful, and full life with simple care that should be applied to any cats really:
βœ… Keep her completely indoors
βœ… Stay up-to-date with vaccinations, flea control, etc.
βœ… Get any illnesses checked out ASAP
βœ… Keep her away from cats who are sick
βœ… Ensure she gets good quality nutrition - I did this for my cat by cutting out kibbles completely

❓Can they live with FIV- cats?
πŸ’¬ Sure! As long as you institute a no-sex household (among the cats lah...). This means all your furry friends must be spayed/neutered. FIV also spreads through violent - and I mean VIOLENT - cat fights involving deep bites. Just be patient with the process of integration with your other cats and once they get along, the chances of this happening will be extremely low.

❓ Can FIV be transmitted to humans?
πŸ’¬ Short answer: No. Longer answer: Impossible.
