Early 2019, one the cleaners who worked in the PJ Old Town wet market had rescued Mr. Brown from her neighbor. She alleged that the neighbour was seen choking the poor cat and there was a hole on this ear depicting the letter 'C', suggesting that someone had used a hole puncher to punch out part of his ear. On the day of his rescue, Mr. Brown could hardly walk at all...he was just dragging his hind legs. The cleaner brought Mr. Brown to a nearby pet shop in PJ Old Town asking for help to bring Mr. Brown to the vet as she could not afford to do so. The pet shop owner called Sofie for help and so Sofie took him back and together with Anis helped to nurse and care for him. Mr. Brown was about 10 months old then.
Anis had religiously massaged Mr. Brown's legs and he started to heal a little, able to walk but not yet steady. Then, he had an eye infection. Unfortunately, Sofie and Anis was too late to notice and act on it, resulting in him losing his right eye (we cannot apologise enough).
Today Mr. Brown is able to walk and even run around although his gait is noticeably not that of a normal cat. And it doesn't quite help that his legs are rather short:) But it does make it cute and endearing though :)
He is a wonderful companion. Very friendly and loves to interact with the kittens that we sometimes let them play together. However he can also be quite the drama queen haha! He has those cats that he had 'imprinted' on and if they dare come near him or just seemed to approach him, he will meow so loudly, you will think that he has been attacked!! He is also very single minded when it comes to getting to and fro - if you place yourself or any objects on his path, he will just walk over you/objects, refusing to use another way or go around you/objects.
It would take a very special person for us to let go of Mr. Brown but at the same time we really pray for a special someone for him.
If you are considering adopting Mr. Brown, please be prepared that we will ask a lot of questions and will require you to update us regularly. You should also note that he has difficulty chewing on kibbles so you need to feed him soft/wet food and small sized kibbles.
